I want to say again congratulations to all of our 2024 high school graduates! We had a fantastic week of graduation ceremonies, and it was thrilling to be there with our graduates and their families and friends as they celebrated this significant milestone. I wish all of our graduates continued success and encourage you all to stay the course as you enter this next chapter of your lives. Continue to make your DCSD family proud!
We have made it to the end of the school year! Congratulations to all of our students, teachers, administrators, and staff on completing another school year. I hope this year was a success and a learning experience for everyone. Enjoy your summer break, and we look forward to your return on August 5, 2024.
Good Luck, Sarv!
We are excited to cheer on Austin Elementary School fourth-grade student Sarv Dharavane as he competes in the Scripps National Spelling Bee beginning May 28 in National Harbor, Maryland. Sarv was celebrated by his classmates earlier this month. To read more about Sarv's journey to the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition, click here.
Half-Cap Ceremonies
We are proud to kick off our district-wide initiative of half-cap ceremonies at our high schools. We want our students, specifically our sophomore high school students, to stay on track to graduation, and these ceremonies are our way to celebrate what these students have accomplished so far and encourage them to stay the course. Congratulations to our sophomore students who are on track to graduate, and I look forward to shaking your hand at graduation in 2026! To view more photos from the ceremony, click here.

ThoughtExchange Surveys
ThoughtExchange Question: What are your thoughts on our Gifted identification process and gifted services? What can DCSD do to improve this process?
It is worth noting that there is a high demand for high achievers and magnet programs in Area 1, given the nearly 500 students enrolled at Chamblee High School. The future expansion at Cross Keys HS offers an opportunity to expand magnet programs and balance enrollment. What are your thoughts?
What additional Career, Technical & Agricultural Education (CTAE) pathways would you like to see introduced at Cross Keys High School that would better prepare students for future workforce demands? What are your thoughts on expanding the magnet programs at Cross Keys High School to offer more opportunities for students?
Congratulations to our new Fambassadors! Twenty-two parents have successfully completed their training. Fambassadors are leaders who enjoy working on projects with other adults, supporting other families, and making a meaningful contribution to their community through volunteering. Thank you to those who answered the call to be part of this new and innovative program. To view more photos from the event, click here.
