MORE SCHOOL LEADERS ANNOUNCED: DCSD Welcomes Five New Principals
The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) announces the appointment of five new additional principals for the 2024-25 school year. The appointments occurred from July 29 through present. In alphabetical order by school, they are:
- Evansdale Elementary – Sherita Davis is the new principal. Ms. Davis is a 15-year educator who recently served as assistant principal at Midvale Elementary School.
- Kingsley Elementary – Dr. Laurie Jackson is the interim principal. Dr. Jackson has been with the District since 2001, serving as a teacher, instructional coach, instructional support specialist, and assistant principal.
- McNair Discovery Learning Academy -Shayna Bishop is the new principal. Ms. Bishop most recently served as assistant principal at Kingsley Elementary before this promotion.
- Panola Way Elementary – Eric Johnson is the principal. Mr. Johnson is new to DCSD, coming to Panola Way from Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia, where he was the principal at Cameron Elementary School.
- Salem Middle – Marcus Wright leads the way at Salem Middle School. Mr. Wright is also new to DCSD, coming from Evanston, Illinois where he served as a school principal.
DCSD Superintendent Dr. Devon Q. Horton expressed gratitude for these leaders answering the call to lead.
“We know it is not easy to take over as principal after the school year has started. But the District is thankful that these inspiring administrators have stepped up to the plate to continue the mission of providing a high-quality education for the students in their buildings,” Dr. Horton said.
“The transitions have gone smoothly, and we look forward to seeing these new leaders take their schools to New Levels, New Heights.”
