Dunaire & Indian Creek Elementary Are Latest Examples of Company’s Education Commitment
December 13, 2022
STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Burlington Stores, the national off-price retailer, through its partnership with the national non-profit organization, AdoptAClassroom.org, has donated a total of $5,000 towards school supplies to Dunaire Elementary School and Indian Creek Elementary School in celebration of its new store now open in Stone Mountain at 5064 Memorial Drive.
The schools each received a $2,500 check, and the school principals, select students, and district officials were on hand to celebrate the donation at the store’s grand opening on December 9. A representative from AdoptAClassroom.org contacted school administrators and helped to secure the donation for Dunaire and Indian Creek, which will provide new supplies for each teacher’s classroom.
“On behalf of Indian Creek Elementary School, I would like to thank Burlington Coat Factory and the Burlington Adopt A Classroom Organization for the generous donation of $2,500,” said Principal Stephanie Brown-Bryant. “More than 950 of our students come from more than 40 countries and speak more than 40 languages. They will benefit tremendously from the supplies their teachers will use to make learning more fun, engaging, and exciting!”
At Dunaire, each grade level—kindergarten through 5th—received $300 and Pre-K received $200. The school’s specials department, which consists of physical education, art, and music, received $300 as well.
“The consensus for the building was to purchase manipulatives that support math for all grade levels, manipulatives/materials that will support writing structure for the lower grades, and reading materials that will create instructional knowledge depth for the upper grades,” said Dunaire Principal Dr. Sean Deas. “Our specials department indicated they wanted to purchase supplies that would support the content instruction. This would include art supplies, small music instruments, and PE equipment. Any additional funds would be used to purchase more books to be used through the media center.”
Each time Burlington opens a new store, Burlington celebrates by adopting and funding a local elementary school in its store community. Through generous donations like these, Burlington reaffirms its commitment to supporting education through its partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org.
The new Burlington store is located at 5064 Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain and provides deals for the entire family and home.
