Principal Bianca Hamilton of the DeKalb Elementary School of the Arts will partake in a star-studded field of DeKalb County leaders at “Dancing with the DeKalb Stars,” a domestic violence fundraiser and resource expo on Saturday, Oct. 14
Hamilton and her partner, Patrick Smith, will participate in a dance competition that will feature 11 teams comprised of dance professionals and notable members of DeKalb County’s legal, public safety, business and civic communities. In addition, students from the DeKalb School of the Arts will pay tribute to the victims and survivors of domestic violence through a special performance.
Join the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) team in supporting our own Principal Hamilton by attending the event, an effort of the DeKalb County’s Solicitor-General’s Office.
The fundraiser will take place beginning at 5 p.m., at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center, 3181 Rainbow Drive, Decatur, GA 30034. Tickets may be purchased for $20, and additional information may be found, at the event website. Mable’s Barbecue & Smoked Meats will provide light refreshments during the Resource Expo and intermission.
Proceeds generated through ticket sales and corporate sponsorships will benefit Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence and the International Women’s House.
“These two organizations work daily to assist those lost in the cycle of abuse and our office wants to assist these non-profits in their fundraising efforts,” said Solicitor-General Donna Coleman- Stribling. “With the help of our, ‘DeKalb Stars,’ we hope to accomplish this goal and bring awareness to an issue that effects our community. We appreciate our ‘DeKalb Stars,’ for donating their time and helping us reach our goal. We hope to see all of DeKalb at the event in October.”
