Congratulations to the Class of 2017 Valedictorians & Salutatorians!
Ladies and gentlemen…prepare to experience greatness! The DeKalb County School District is proud to present the Class of 2017 Valedictorians and Salutatorians!
As parents, educators, peers, and community leaders welcomed them with thunderous applause, the district’s 28 valedictorians and 26 salutatorians crossed the stage of the Administrative & Instructional Complex to receive recognition and a commemorative medallion from Superintendent R. Stephen Green, stepping boldly into a bright and vibrant future.
Right when the honorees thought the ceremony was near end, Mr. Gary Brantley, Chief Information Officer for DeKalb Schools, took to the stage to give another special presentation to the graduates.
“You guys have worked extremely hard, you’ve done all of your homework, you’ve passed all your tests, you’re ready for college. This is a major accomplishment,” said Mr. Brantley.
The Board of Education, Superintendent Green, and Mr. Brantley, through a partnership with Virtucom and Acer, presented brand new Acer touchscreen laptops to all of the special honorees. Mr. Brantley went the extra mile by having each laptop etched with ‘2017 Valedictorian/2017 Salutatorian of the DeKalb County School District’.
Selected based on their exemplary weighted grade point averages, these 54 extraordinary accomplished young men and women basked in the glory of the moment. “Over the past thirteen years, we have nurtured you to foster your growth and development,” said Superintendent Green. “Now, you are ready to continue your journey and pursue your dreams. Congratulations one and all!”
