grants and partnership

Overview

DeKalb County School District believes it takes everyone in our community working together to ensure that all students are prepared for college, careers, and life. Our district uses innovative solutions to support the education of our scholars, and this work would not be possible without the support of teachers, parents, community members, businesses, and nonprofits.

The Grants and Partnerships Department provides support to all schools, centers, departments, and community organizations. Grants and Partnerships supports the mission and goals of DeKalb County School District by leveraging partnerships between schools, businesses, and other organizations to secure additional resources. We solicit the support of local, state, regional, and federal partners as we strive to build sustainable relationships that will provide resources to maximize student success.

What is a Partner?

Partners are organizations that provide services and resources to staff and students free of charge. Corporations and foundations that support schools and district-wide initiatives with financial gifts and resources aligned to the MIRACLES priorities and strategic goals are considered partners

Vendors are organizations whose services are associated with a fee. Approval must be granted in advance to ensure the services are directly aligned to the MIRACLES priorities. Any services to schools or the district requiring a fee must be approved in advance. If you would like to register as vendor, access the vendor registration form using the following link after completing the Partnership Interest Survey: https://dekalb.munisselfservice.com/default.aspx.
  1. Email the Grants and Partnerships Department at grantsandpartnerships@dekalbschoolsga.org and complete the following Partnerships Interest Form.
  2. Meet with the Grants and Partnerships team, school site administrator, and/or department leader to discuss the details of the partnership, alignment to the school and district initiatives, and the MIRACLES Priorities or you can email a brief overview of the partnership.
  3. After a decision is made to proceed, an agreement will be reviewed for approval. You will be contacted if any additional information is needed.
  4. Documents will be submitted for legal review and approval to obtain the Superintendent’s approval and signature. Finally, you will be contacted with next steps.
  5. Contact the following Grants and Partnerships Department at grantsandpartnerships@dekalbschoolsga.org, if you have any questions regarding the grants and partnerships process.
All agencies, institutions of higher education, non-profits, and others who wish to partner with DeKalb County School District on a grant application should complete the external grant request form. The Grants and Partnerships Department is responsible for processing grant requests from both internal and external constituents.

Invitations and requests must be received 4 – 8 weeks in advance for review and a decision before any deadlines.
Staff in DeKalb County School District schools, centers, and departments interested in submitting grant applications to outside sources should complete the internal grant request form.

Please follow the district’s grants procedures, prior to submitting a grant that exceeds $1000, and/or prior to partnering with an external organization.

At no time will grants, partnerships, or donations requiring matching funds be approved without the appropriate authorization. This authorization process begins with the Division of Community Engagement and Innovative Partnerships.

Partnerships Process

Establishing a DeKalb County School District Partnership

The first step to becoming a partner with the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) is to complete the Partnerships Interest Form. DCSD requires all partners to be fully registered and approved prior to providing any services.

  1. Once the Partnerships Interest Form has been submitted, the team will review the form and follow up with partners within two weeks. If additional information is required before approval can be granted, the team will reach out to the contact(s) listed on the Partnerships Interest Form.
  2. An approved partner is an organization that: 1) provides services, programming, or both at no cost to the school or school district, 2) and/or has a fully executed School/District Partnership Agreement or Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on file with the school district.

Once Approved

  1. A member of the Grants & Partnerships team will reach out to schedule an appointment to discuss the next steps that must be completed to ensure that the program is aligned to DCSD policies and priorities.
  2. Meet with the Grants & Partnerships team to discuss the partnership.
  3. Creation and development of a Partnership Agreement.
    1. The Partnership Agreement is a formal legal agreement administered by the school district’s Division of Community Engagement and Innovative Partnerships, which is between the school district and an organization offering programming and/or support services to schools or the district at no cost.
    2. For most school-based and district partners, the Partnership Agreement is the easiest and most efficient option for satisfying this requirement. For more information, contact the Grants and Partnerships team.
    3. Please note that certain partnership relationships and activities may necessitate a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between or among partners and DCSD. MOUs help to outline the responsibilities of each party and establish parameters for the types of partnership activities that the district will permit to occur on DCSD property or with DCSD students.
  4. After the Partnership Agreement or MOU has been agreed upon between the partner organization and the district or school, the documents are submitted for review and approval, and a team member will provide next steps.

Please Note: Existing partners currently providing services in DCSD will also be required to register and update information annually.
