Data Dashboard | Term | Definition |
---|---|---|
CCRPI | College and Career Ready Performance Index | The College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) is Georgia’s tool for annually measuring how well its schools, districts, and the state are helping students achieve their goals. Every year, each school and district in Georgia receives a CCRPI score on a scale from 0 to 100. The CCRPI score is earned based on five components: Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, Readiness, and Graduation Rate (high schools only). The CCRPI also includes subgroup performance, School Climate Star Rating, and the Financial Efficiency Star Rating. |
CCRPI Components | Closing Gaps | Closing Gaps measures the extent to which all students and all student subgroups are meeting annual achievement improvement targets, defined as 3% of the gap between a baseline performance and 100. A system of green, yellow, and red improvement flags will indicate the extent to which improvement targets were met. |
Content Mastery | Content Mastery includes achievement scores in English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies based on student performance on state assessments. The achievement scores utilize weights based on achievement level to acknowledge the level of proficiency attained by each student. Achievement scores will be adjusted if the required 95% participation rate is not met. | |
Graduation Rate | Graduation Rate includes both the four- and five-year adjusted cohort graduation rates. This emphasizes graduating in four years while placing value on continuing to work with and graduate students who need more time. | |
Progress | Progress utilizes Student Growth Percentiles (SGPs) to measure progress in both English language arts and mathematics. SGPs describe the amount of growth a student has demonstrated relative to academically-similar students. A third progress indicator measures the extent to which English Learners are making progress towards English language proficiency. Progress scores utilize weights based on growth level to acknowledge the level of growth demonstrated by each student. | |
Readiness | Elementary and middle school readiness indicators include literacy, student attendance, and opportunities for enrichment beyond the traditional academic core. High school readiness indicators include literacy, student attendance, accelerated enrollment, pathway completion, and demonstration of college and career readiness via multiple opportunities. | |
3-Year Average Single Scores | DCSD follows the Georgia State Department of Education (GaDOE) that used a 3-year CCRPI single score average (2017, 2018, and 2019) to identify schools to be placed on state improvement lists. It should be noted that the State set a new baseline in 2018 and years are not comparable from 2015-2017 to 2018-2019. The CCRPI Data Dashboard does not make comparisons for years 2015-2017 and 2018-2019. However, it does display results from each year for transparency and historical purposes. | |
5-Year Average Single Scores | Years included for longitudinal views for transparency and historical purposes are: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. It should be noted that the State set a new baseline in 2018 and years are not comparable from 2015-2017 to 2018-2019. | |
Direct Certification | Direct certification (DC) is used to measure poverty levels of students in Georgia. Directly certified students include students living in a family unit receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food stamp benefits, students living in a family unit receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits, and students identified as homeless, unaccompanied youth, foster or migrant. The DC rate for each district and school is calculated by dividing the number of directly certified students by the total school enrollment from the October Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) count. | |
Mobility Rate | Mobility Rate (Churn Rate) is the percentage of students who entered or withdrew from the district or a school during the year. | |
STE(A)M Schools | DeKalb County School District (DCSD) currently has 32 STE(A)M schools certified by two entities, the Georgia Department of Education and Cognia. The Georgia Department of Education offers STEM and STEAM certification to schools that is a state designation. Cognia offers STEM school certification that is an international designation. Both entities require schools to meet of set of designated requirements or standards to earn certification. Each certification is valid for five years at which point schools will have to apply for recertification. Culture and Climate | Chronic Absenteeism | The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) defines chronic absenteeism as a student missing 10 percent or more of enrolled days excused or unexcused. |
Climate Star Ratings | “School climate refers to the quality and character of school life — the “”culture”” of a school. A sustainable, positive school climate fosters youth development and student learning, which are essential elements for academic success, career-skill improvement, and overall quality of life. The School Climate Star Rating assesses the climate of a school on a 1-5 scale using the following indicators: Survey – a measure of student, teacher, and parent perceptions of a school’s climate; Student Discipline – a measure of student discipline using a weighted suspension rate; Safe and Substance-Free Learning Environment – school discipline incidents and student survey responses on use of illegal substances and the prevalence of violence, bullying, and unsafe incidents within a school; Attendance – the average daily attendance of teachers, administrators, and staff members and the percentage of students with fewer than six unexcused absences. Each school in Georgia receives a one- to five-star rating, with five stars representing an excellent school climate, and one star representing a school climate most in need of improvement.” | |
