horton at nabse eventThe National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) recently recognized DeKalb County School District (DCSD) Superintendent Dr. Devon Q. Horton at their Higher Education Commission Luncheon Ceremony. The event was held on the campus of Clark Atlanta University.

NABSE stated they chose to honor Dr. Horton for his “outstanding dedication to teaching and learning, support of worthy causes, and steadfast commitment to education”.

“We would like to express our sincere appreciation for your invaluable contributions and sacrifices made in service to the Atlanta community and abroad,” shared NABSE. “Your dynamic leadership, trailblazing historic participation towards education and unwavering support for those who are often underrepresented and unfairly treated are truly commendable. You consistently embody the principles of fairness, equality, scholarship, justice, and your efforts are an inspiration to all.”

Dr. Horton was joined by members of his family, DCSD Board of Education members, and district leaders. He was presented the award by retired Superintendent Dr. Vasti K. Washington, current associate professor of educational leadership at South Carolina State University. Congratulations Dr. Horton!
