When former DeKalb County School District (DCSD) student Nuam San moved to the United States from Myanmar five years ago, little did she know that she would eventually be featured in a highly regarded, internationally-read newspaper.
The Clarkston High School graduate and current Agnes Scott student’s story was recently profiled by The New York Times in a story titled “From Collecting Firewood for Sale to Forging a Path in College,” by Timothy Pratt.
The story tells San’s life story, which includes living and in a northwestern Myanmar village called Tedim, traveling to the country’s largest city, Yangon, and her eventual arrival to Clarkston.
San’s complete story can be found on The New York Times website.
