Join the Department of Parent and Family Engagement for Family Matters Game Night on Wednesday, November 6, 2019. The game night is from 5:30 pm until 7:30 p.m. Come explore the unique and fun ways of learning Math, Reading and Critical Thinking strategies. 

The DeKalb County School Board is asking the community for its input as it begins its search for the district’s next superintendent. The board kicked off the search process on October 7, 2019, by meeting with BWP and Associates, a national search firm, which specializes in assisting boards that are seeking superintendents. “Selecting a new superintendent is a significant process that requires that we exercise appropriate due diligence and honor the input and ideas from our community stakeholders,” Board Chair Dr. Michael A. Erwin said. “Participation from our parents, students, teachers, business and community partners is critical in helping us shape the leadership profile of what we are looking for in our next superintendent.”

During the community engagement phase, the board and BWP will gather input from the community that will be used to create a unique profile of what the community is looking for from its next school district leader.

Community members can give that input through community forums on November 6 and 7, and through an online survey that will launch on November 4 at https://www.dekalbschoolsga.org/superintendent/.

This Community Forum is scheduled for:
Region 1: Chamblee Charter High School, Auditorium
Region 2: Tucker High School, Auditorium
Region 3: Lithonia High School, Auditorium

These 3 redistricting efforts are to address additional capacity created by new facilities, as well as the overcrowding of elementary schools in the Chamblee, Cross Keys, Dunwoody and Lakeside high school clusters.

The School Choice Expo will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Tucker High School.

The School Choice Expo will inform students and families about their options for enrolling in the district’s specialized programs. Representatives from each of the DeKalb County School District’s nearly 40 choice programs will present informational materials and creative displays, as well as provide answers to participant’s questions.

Attention DCSD Parents of Students with Disabilities

DeKalb County School District Parent Mentors Will Sponsor A FREE “MAKE AND TAKE”

Date: Saturday, March 14, 2020

Time: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm

Who:
Available to all DCSD parents and guardians of students with disabilities. If bringing children, please note there is a minimum age of 12 to enter the center. This is due to the equipment inside the center.

What:
Georgia Learning Resource System (GLRS) is a center available that contains a wide range of arts and crafts resources. We will learn how to make buttons, use the laminator, create shapes with die cuts and more! http://www.me.glrs.org/

Where:
GLRS is located on the backside of the DeKalb Administration and Instructional Complex (AIC) located at 1701 Mountain Industrial Blvd Stone Mountain, GA 30083. Please look for the balloons!

When:
Saturday February 1, 2020 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. This is an open house format so please drop in as convenient. Please remember to leave children under 12 at home.

Why:
