A meet high seven medals fueled the Cedar Grove Saints to their third DeKalb County Middle School Boys’ Track Championships title held recently at Adams Stadium.

Cedar Grove won the squad’s second gold medal of the meet rallying from behind in the 4×400-meter relay (3:46.02) to win the final event of the meet by 0.83 seconds over Stone Mountain (3:46.85) to make no doubt who was winning the title.

Cedar Grove finished with 79.5 points to outlast Chamblee (66) and Beacon Hill (45.5). It was the Saints first title since 2013.

The Saints also won the 4×200-meter relay in 1:35.58 to set a new meet record. It broke the previous mark set by Redan of 1:36.16 set in the prelims in 2023.

Chamblee, the defending champs, finished in second led by co-Most Valuable Boy Joseph Dudderra who finished second in both the 800-meter-run (2:17.57) and the 1600-meter run (5:16.48). The Bulldogs totaled six medals at the meet but failed to get a gold finishing with three silver and three bronze medals. Keegan Taylor had the third silver for the Bulldogs taking second in the triple jump (37-06.00).

Beacon Hill grabbed gold medals in two events as mark Sanders won the 100-meter dash (11.42) and the 4×800-meter relay team won the event with a time of 9:41.72.

Champion finished fourth just behind Beacon Hill with 42 points as three gold medals accounted for 30 of the team’s total.

Dralen Hinton won the 400-meter dash (53.30) and Steven Lewis threw for 44-06.00 to take the shot put title. The 4×100 relay team picked up a gold medal with a winning time of 46:38.

Redan came in fifth with 36 points led by bronze medals in the 400-meter dash (Emmanuel Faison, 54.22), the triple jump (Jayden Sumbry 35-05.50) and the 4×400-meter relay (3:47.79).

Stone Mountain was sixth as co-MVP Ayden Wharton won the 200-meter dash (23.49) and finished third in the 100-meter dash (11.7).

Druid Hills won a pair of gold medals as Dustin Webb secured gold in the 100-meter hurdles (15.58) and Phillip Claybrooks won the
long jump (19-00.50).

Miller Grove’s Casey Graves tied the meet record of 38-01.00 in the triple jump to give the Wolverines a gold medal.

Other gold medal winners included Tucker’s Bryston Maxwell in the 800-meter run (2:16.90) and Henderson’s Eric Maskery in the 1600-meter run (5:05.91).
