
The Finals for the 2025 DCSD Middle School Basketball Tournament are all set for Saturday at Miller Grove High School.
The DeKalb County Middle School Basketball Championships finals are set for Saturday at 2:00 pm (girls) and 3:30 pm (boys) at Miller Grove High School after semifinal action on Wednesday decided the teams.
Undefeated Champion (15-0) and defending county champ Chapel Hill (14-1) collide in the 2:00 pm girls’ game after picking up victories on Wednesday.
Champion kept its undefeated string going at 15-0 with a nail-biting, come-from-behind win over the Beacon Hill Lady Bulldogs (12-4) at Champion on Wednesday night. Champion will be going for its fifth county title since 2016.
Beacon Hill led 16-12 at the half before Champion battled back to take a 25-24 lead after three quarters of play. The play of Rekiah Miller (14 points, 13 rebounds), Kaylen Reynolds (9 points, 6 rebounds, 7 steals) and Madison Diggs (8 points, 8 rebounds) led to the Lady Chargers come-back win.
Beacon Hill got a balance attack as well led by Lydia Robillard with 11 points, Juliet Janke with 9 and Stella Rucker with 8.
The defending champion Chapel Hill Lady Panthers pulled away from the Cedar Grove Lady Saints (13-2) for a 48-25 home victory in Wednesday’s semifinal matchup. Chapel Hill will be vying for its third title since 2018 and second consecutive.
Mauri Barnes (21 points, 6 steals, 9 rebounds) and Londynn Nolley (16 points, 8 steals, 7 rebounds, 5 assists) fueled Chapel Hill in the win. Ziryah Bell (13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals) and Jessica Morton (4 points, 15 rebounds, 5 blocks) led Cedar Grove.
BOYS SEMIFINALS
The boys’ championship game is set after the Stephenson Jaguars and Druid Hills Dragons won their semifinal games on Wednesday night to pit the Region 1 No. 1 seed Jaguars against the Region 1 No. 2 seed Dragons.
The Stephenson Jaguars (14-1) knocked of the defending champion Chapel Hill Panthers (11-5) 54-34 to advance to the finals for an attempt to win their fourth title since 2015.
Stephenson was holding a 21-20 edge at the half but outscored Chapel Hill 33-15 in the second half to secure the win behind a big 27-point night from Terry Coleman (7 steals, 7-10 FT). RJ Rogers (12 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks), King Abrams (11 points, 4 rebounds) and Jacob Coates (2 points, 10 rebounds) all contributed to the big second half surge.
Druid Hills (13-2) moved into the finals looking for its first county championship with a thrilling 39-37 come-from-behind win over the Region 1 No. 4 seed Redan Raiders (12-4).
Phillip Claybrooks scored six points in the final 20 seconds of the game to put the Dragons up two in the win. Claybrooks finished with 26 points and eight rebounds for the Dragons.
Stephenson and Druid Hills are set for a 3:30 pm start at Miller Grove High School on Saturday in the boys’ final. Stephenson owns a 41-37 win in the only meeting between the two teams this season.
