Miller Grove racked up 24 wins and six Top Two finishes on the way to capturing the 2025 DeKalb County Middle School Wrestling Championships title held recently at Druid Hills High School.

Miller Grove totaled 143.0 points to outduel Redan (133.0) for the title. Chapel Hill followed in third with 119.0 points with Bethune (118.0) and Columbia (116.5) nipping as the Panthers’ heels.

The Wolverines picked up gold medals in the 125 and 145 weight classes. Zy’Aire Franklin defeated teammate Yashua Venble 15-3 to capture the gold at 125 giving the Wolverines a 1-2 finish in the class. Corion Cain grabbed gold in the 145 class by defeating McNair’s Reggie Laster-King by pin fall in one of 17 pin falls by Wolverine wrestlers for the tournament.

Redan put nine wrestlers in the Top 4 with a 15-11 overall record including four gold medal victories along the way. Cameron McClintock brought home the 130 class crown with a pin fall victory over Miller Grove’s Samuel Adepoju and Jayden Sumbry followed at 137 taking the gold with a 5-0 decision over Chapel Hill’s Luciano Velasquez.

Kobie Flowers closed out a gold medal performance at 275 by a pin fall against Chapel Hill’s Mason Jones. In girls’ 105 class Kalaani Flowers won the gold for the Raiders.

Third place Chapel Hill picked up two gold medals along the way to go with four silver medals to clinch third place. Samon Brown won the 210 class by a pin fall over Redan’s Quantavious Green and Lee Angel English won the girls’ 120 class by injury default over Bethune’s Ana Williams.

Bethune got a strong performance from the girls with a pair of gold medals and two silver medals to go with four bronze medals from the boys. Azaria Davis won the girls 135 class over teammate Elizabeth Momoh by a 16-4 margin and Kaitelyn Banks won an 11-1 decision against Redan’s Roxlyn Gwaltney for the second girls’ gold for Bethune.

Columbia’s fifth place finish was fueled three gold medals from the boys. Keontae Baker opened the Columbia run with a win in the 78 class by 9-0 victory against Miller Grove’s Derion Freeman. Jaquavious Pollard captured the 115 class via a 10-1 decision over Chapel Hill’s Jaden McKidvins. Nick Lester followed with the win at 164 taking down Chapel Hill’s James West by pin fall.

Tucker picked up two gold medals and a silver to finish in sixth led by Deandre Keller’s win at the 84 class by a pin fall over Redan’s Tarek Swinney. KJ Pringle’s victory at 100 by pin fall over Stone Mountain’s Torrey Caraballa capped the wins by the Tigers.

Lithonia got a victory at the 154 class by Timothy Behling as he pinned Miller Grove’s Jalen Jackson and added a gold at 175 as Willie Jones won a 7-2 decision over Columbia’s Nolan Evans.

Stephenson collected a gold medal in the 120 class as Brandon Breker got a 9-1 decision against Tucker’s Christopher Mattox.
