The Redan Lady Raiders came up short as their 12-point rally was one-point shy of tying Long County in the fourth quarter of a hard fought 20-19 loss on the road in the Division 1 girls’ flag football playoffs quarterfinal on Monday.

Long County had reeled off 20 consecutive points to take a 20-7 lead into the fourth quarter when Redan (18-3-1) began to tighten the game.

Junior quarterback Londyn Felder closed the gap to 20-13 as she got loose for a 35-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt failed and Long County took over.

Long County turned the ball over and Felder made it count as she scored on a 10-yard run to make it 20-19 with under two-minutes to play. Redan came up short again on the extra point to still trail 20-19.

Long County (20-2) was able to run out the final 1:21 to seal the win as Redan was out of timeouts.

Redan had opened with an early 7-0 lead as Felder (17 carries, 123 yards) streaked in from 42 yards out and then added the extra point to send the Raiders into the second quarter up 7-0.

Long scored in the second quarter to pull within 7-6 at halftime.

A failed fourth down attempt by Redan gave Long County a short field in the third quarter to take a 13-7 lead. On Redan’s next possession Long County intercepted a pass and returned it to Redan one and then punched it in for the 20-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Felder also finished 12 of 21 passing for 160 yards. Other notable performances came from Kameron Smith (7 receptions, 93 yards; 7 carries, 21 yards), Pryncess Anderson (3 receptions, 40 yards) and Legend Williams (2 receptions, 27 yards).

Redan set a school record for wins with 18 while advancing to the quarterfinals for the first time, only the second DeKalb team to reach the third round joining Dunwoody. Redan has also reached the second round three consecutive seasons.
