DeKalb County has four players competing for the Region 3 & 4 team that is participating in the Georgia Dugout Club All-State Softball Games at Truist Park on Saturday.

Chamblee has three representatives competing in outfield Kate Sarago, catcher Rachel Axelson and pitcher Gali Nelson while Lakeside first baseman Ellie Lenz.

The Chamblee trio were part of the winningest senior class in Chamblee and DeKalb County history as part of 102 wins over their four years playing for the Bulldogs. That run includes two Elite Eight and two Sweet 16 appearances.

All three Bulldogs are committed to play college softball with Sarago headed to Purdue University, Axelson to Berry College and Nelson to the University of Memphis.

Lenz recovered from a broken ankle suffered in preseason basketball practice a year ago to hit 11 home runs and break the DeKalb County softball record with 26 for her career. Lenz is headed to Piedmont College to continue her education and playing career.

Their All-State team opens the day at 10:40 am against Region 1 &5 All-State squad and finishes up with a 4:15 pm game against the Region 6 &7 team. They will also compete in a skills competition and be recognized and presented with a plaque for their selection to the All-State squads.
