The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs swept the Dutchtown Bulldogs in a dominating fashion by scores of 17-0 and 20-1 as Chamblee on Friday afternoon.

Chamblee (24-5) opened the first round Class 5A state playoff series with 17-0, no-hit win over Dutchtown (19-9).

rfect game win as her team backed her up with 14-first inning runs.

Caroline Runsick and Lilah Scher both drove in four runs in the game for Chamblee as the Bulldog batters drew 11 walks along the way.

Chamblee close out the series with a 20-1 win in the second game as the team scored 11 runs after Rachel Axelson jump started the game with an RBI single to right. Chamblee never looked back after taking the lead and added on with back-to-back-to-back RBI singles by Gali Nelson Elena Smith and Anabelle Ritchey.

It was more of the same in the second inning with Avery D’Auria singling to score Ritchey followed by Madi Jones RBI single and .Nelson got her second RBI in two innings with a single to center.

Leading 19-0 in the third inning, Kate Sarago added an inside the park home run for the twentieth run for Chamblee.

Chamblee will host Creekview in the second round of the playoffs next Thursday with a time to be announced. Creekview swept Roswell 8-0, 8-0 to advance.

Lakeside vs. Newnan
The Lakeside Vikings won a thriller to open their best-of-three playoff series before Newnan’s Cougars rallied to a 9-6 win to force a deciding third game on Saturday at 11:30 at Lakeside.

Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth with two out and two on base, Coach Brian Granger went to his bench for pinch hitter Riley Boyd. Boyd battled the Newnan pitcher before driving a single into right field to score Ellie Lenz and Leah Brosnan to put the Vikings on top 4-3.

Newnan led 3-0 going into the bottom of the third inning as Khloe Walker drove in a run with an RBI double in the first inning and two unearned runs with a single to center in the third.

Sydney Conrad pulled the Vikings within 3-2 in the bottom of the third with a two-run single to center of her own.

The score remained 3-2 until Boyd’s big hit in the bottom of the sixth. Lakeside pitcher Molly McHoul closed out the game with two strikeouts (her 12th and 13th of the game) and got a pop up for the third out to end the game.

Lakeside (20-5) looked to be headed to the sweep with three runs in the top of the first inning on an Ellie Lenz RBI single and a Newnan error that allowed two more runner to score.

The Cougars answered with three runs of their own behind a triple by Presley Ivey, a single by Gabriella Espy and groundout by Evie Mathis to tie the game at 3-3.

Ivey added a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning to give Newnan (14-16) a 5-3 lead.
