The GHSA girls state softball playoffs begin on Wednesday (Class 2A/4A) and Friday (Class 5A) including six teams from DeKalb vying to move forward in the playoffs.

The lone home games on Wednesday are a Class 2A doubleheader being hosted by the No. 5 seeded Miller Grove Wolverines (15-2) against No. 28 seed Hardaway (11-1). The doubleheader is set for a 2:00 pm start with the second game scheduled for 4:30 pm. If they need a third game in the best-of-three series it would be at Miller Grove on Thursday at 2:00 pm

Miller Grove is in the state playoffs for a third consecutive season and looking for its first playoff best-of-three victory since a sweep of North Springs in 2017.

Redan (8-7) is the No. 23 seed and travels to face Region 6-2A foe and No. 10 seed South Atlanta (15-4) at 12:00 pm in the first game of the doubleheader. It is Redan’s second consecutive playoff trip as the Raiders are seeking their first playoff series win.

The Southwest DeKalb Panthers (11-9), the Region 5-4A No. 4 seed, have a long trip to take on Region 1-4A No. 1 seed Wayne County (18-7) at 4:00 pm to open the doubleheader on Wednesday. If a third game is necessary, the teams are set for a 4:00 pm start on Thursday.

Three Class 5A teams take the field on Friday with Chamblee and Lakeside both hosting best-of-three series and Dunwoody is on the road.

Chamblee (22-5) is the Region 4-5A champ sweeping to an unblemished mark in region play and will host Region 3-5A No. 4 seed Dutchtown (19-7) in a 1:00 pm doubleheader. Chamblee is making a 15th consecutive state playoff appearance. If a third game is necessary, the two teams return to Chamblee at 10:00 am on Saturday.

Lakeside (19-4) finished as the runner-up to Chamblee in Region 4-5A to earn the No. 2 seed and host role on Friday against Region 3-5A No. 3 seed Newnan (13-15) with an 11:00 am start to the doubleheader on Friday. The third game, if necessary, is set for an 11:30 am start on Saturday. Lakeside is making its first state tournament appearance since 2021.

Dunwoody (10-13) clipped Woodward to earn the No. 4 seed out of Region 4-5A and goes on the road to Region 3-5A No. 1 seed Northgate (21-6). The Wildcats are returning to the state playoffs after missing out in 2023 when they broke a 12-year run of playoff appearances. Dunwoody’s first game of the doubleheader at Northgate is set for a 2:00 pm start. The third game, if necessary, is set for 12:00 pm on Saturday.
