Region leaders Redan and Chapel Hill put together shutouts to up their season record to 4-0 in DeKalb County middle school football play this past Saturday.

The Chapel Hill Panthers (4-0, 2-0) led by Makai King’s big day rolled to a 34-0 win over the Stone Mountain Pirates (1-3, 0-2) at Adams Stadium to keep their spot atop the Region 4 standings with a fourth consecutive shutout.

King scored three touchdowns in varying fashions including a rushing touchdown, a touchdown reception and a pick-six to lead the charge for the Panthers. He also added a second interception to stop another Pirates drive. Matthew Brown and Ramello Jackson added one touchdown each in the win. Nasir Eqbail was four for five on extra points.

Redan 40, McNair 0
The Redan Raiders (4-0, 2-0) are the lone remaining undefeated team in Region 3 after shutting down the McNair Mustangs (0-4, 0-2) in a 40-0 win at Godfrey Stadium on Saturday.

Redan’s win was keyed by a big performance from Benjamin Jackson. Jackson scored three offensive touchdowns, two two-point conversions while adding 12 tackles and a pick-six on the defensive side of the ball. Jayden Sumbry added a touchdown and two-point conversion on offense for the Raiders.

The shutout by the defense was led by J’ion Brown-Martin, Anthony Barclay and Jayden Sumbry who had sacks and multiple tackles for a loss. Linebacker Tyler Clark added two interceptions in the game and Kameron McClintock had a big hit to force a fumble.

Chamblee 8, Freedom 6
The Chamblee Bulldogs (2-2, 1-0) rallied from an early 6-0 deficit to upend the Freedom Rams (1-3, 0-1) 8-6 in football action at Hallford Stadium on Saturday.

Trailing 6-0 at the half, the Bulldogs continued to hold on defensively in the second half before Marquis Jackson threw a screen pass to Jonathan Williams that went for 25 yards and a touchdown. Jackson connected with Antwan Middleton JR. for the two-point conversion pass for the 8-6 lead midway through the fourth quarter.

Freedom marched down the field after the go-ahead score by the Bulldogs before Jackson sealed the victory with an interception with a minute left on the clock. The defensive stand in the second half was led by Masiyah Roberts-Kayden with multiple sacks along the way as he continued his big season on the defensive side of the football.

Henderson 33, Sequoyah 0
The Henderson Cougars (3-1, 1-0) dominated the Sequoyah Braves (0-4, 0-1) on the way to a 33-0 Region 1 victory at Adams Stadium on Saturday.

Jake Davis triggered the big offensive show with three touchdowns spread between three receivers. Grey Lynch added a rushing touchdown as well.

Miller Grove 26, Bethune 8
The Miller Grove Wolverines (1-2, 1-0) rallied from a second quarter deficit (8-6) with 20 unanswered points to pick up their first win of the season 26-8 over the Bethune Lions (1-3, 0-2) in a Region 4 matchup at Godfrey Stadium on Saturday.

Amir Wilcox ran for one touchdown and threw another to Casey Graves as the Wolverines rallied for the win. Jeremiah Ivy added two rushing touchdowns and Zyaire Franklin blocked a punt.

Stephenson 34, Columbia 0
The Stephenson Jaguars (1-2, 1-0) got on the winning track last Saturday as they shutout the Columbia Eagles (2-2, 0-2) 34-0 at Hallford Stadium in a Region 3 meeting on Saturday.

Columbia had a pair of interceptions in the loss as Demarco Cody and Trishton Grier each picked off a pass for the Eagles.
