Five teams move to 2-0 on the season in the second week of DCSD middle school football.

The DeKalb County middle school football season is heading into its third week of the season with five teams standing at 2-0 as teams prepare to begin region play over the next two weekends.

Cedar Grove improved to 2-0 scoring over 50 points for the second consecutive week in a 56-0 victory over the Miller Grove Wolverines (1-1).

The Saints shutout their opponent for the second week in a row as the defense also scored a pair of touchdowns with a pair of scoop and scores from Bryson Crawford and Kaylin Williams. King Parrom threw touchdown passes to Jaylen Thomas and Khiman Stokes while using his feet to run for another score. Kaylin Williams had 125 yards rushing with a touchdown to go with rushing touchdowns from Jaylen Thomas and Quincy Edwards.

Tucker 40, Henderson 0
The Tucker Tigers overcame a pair of early touchdowns called back via penalty to shutout the Henderson Cougars (1-1) 40-0 on the way to their second victory of the season.

Running back Christian Copeland did most of the damage on offense with three rushing touchdowns in the game. Quarterback Jace German ran for another score as did Maverick Armour. Armour was also big on defense to aid the shutout.

Stephenson 40, Redan 0
The Stephenson Jaguars hit the 40-point mark for the second week as they roared past the Redan Raiders (0-1) 40-0 on Saturday to improve to 2-0 on the young season.

The defense set the tone early as Kwame KJ Green forced a fumble and recovered by Savion Jones (the first of two recoveries in the game) to set up the opening score of the game. Green and Eli Harris led the Jaguar defense to the shutout.

Gavin Kinchen’s 17-yard run, and Jaylon Johnson’s two-point conversion opened the scoring. Johnson rushed for 127 yards, two touchdowns and two two-point conversions to go with a 30-yard touchdown on a reverse and a 35-yard touchdown reception by Jordan Christie who also caused a fumble recovered by Jones to set up another score.

Lithonia 28, Chamblee 0
Armani Myco passed for 217 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Lithonia Bulldogs to a 28-0 win over the Chamblee Bulldogs to move Lithonia to 2-0 on the season.

Myco three two touchdown passes to Anthony Flournoy and one to JJ Milner. Devis Dean added a rushing touchdown for Lithonia. Quinton Rhodes had eight tackles (4 for loss) to lead Lithonia on defense in the shutout of Chamblee (0-2) along with sacks from Julian Hopson, Devis Dean and Caleb Cooper.

Columbia 18, Druid Hills 0
The Columbia Eagles pitched on of the eight shutouts on the weekend knocking off the Druid Hills Dragons 18-0 to improve to 1-1 on the season.

The defense picked up a pair of touchdowns on pick-sixes from Tarrion Richardson and Delonte Stephens. Michael Carter connected with Josh Buggs for touchdown pass play on offense. Druid Hills fell to 0-2.

Salem 26, Champion 0
The Salem Lions ran their win streak to 11-0 with a 26-0 over the Champion Crusaders this past weekend.

Champion (0-2) got some tough yardage on the ground by Alex Chambliss and Chase Livsey. Courtney Baskerville recorded an interception on defense for the Crusaders.

Freedom 44, Sequoyah 6
Quarterback Clay Watson scored three touchdowns to lead the Freedom Rams to a 44-6 victory over the Sequoyah Indians on Saturday at North DeKalb Stadium.

Watson was also 2-2 for 99 yards, both passes were caught by Geordan Curry. Offensive lineman Davon Durden had five pancakes to lead the way up front. Keon Watson had 4 tackles and forced a fumble for the Rams’ defense while Eric Bell (44 yards) and Clay Watson (50 yards) returned two interceptions for scores. Freedom improved to 1-1 on the season and Sequoyah fell to 0-2.

Bethune 12, Stone Mountain 12
The Bethune Lions and Stone Mountain Pirates battled to a 12-12 tie in their non-region contest last weekend.

Bethune (0-1-1) was led by Rashaad Silver with a pair of touchdowns. Mekyrius Miller had an interception and Tyler Wooten led the team in tackles for the defense.

Jayden Joyner was the top performer for Stone Mountain (1-0-1) with an interception and a touchdown reception in the game.
