Arabia Mountain hosted the Week 4 DCSD Cross Country Meet on Tuesday with Tucker (boys) and Stephenson (girls) coming out on top in the team competitions.

Tucker’s Yordanos Ephram set the best time of the season in two meets at Arabia Mountain running a time of 18:27.75 to capture the boys’ individual title and lead the Tigers to a 19-53 win over Lithonia in the team standings.

Ephram got help from four other Tiger teammates who finished in the Top 10. Abedelemejid Kerebo was second overall in 18:44.36 followed in fifth by Braxton Brody (23:15.57), Minas Gide (23:27.71) in sixth and Jonah Thomas (23:43.96) in eighth.

Lithonia’s second place finish was led by Chase Champion’s third place finish in 22:31.64 and Mateo Mendes (23:38.54) in seventh.

Redan finished third with 71 points led by a pair of Top 10 finishes from Lodrick Scott (24:14.51) in ninth and Zamarvian Green (24:57.07) in 10th.

Stephenson which was the fourth team to score with 98 points was led by a 13th place finish from Ronaldo Richmond (25:55.05).

Martin Luther King Jr.’s Kordell Hamilton (22:41.04) finished fourth overall in the individual standings.

In the girls’ race Stephenson placed three runners in the Top 10 and seven in the Top 14 to outduel Southwest DeKalb 23-38 for the team victory.

Stephenson’s Ty’Kira Garrett was the Lady Jaguars top finisher coming in fourth in 34:45.53. Amaya Shortt was ninth (36:56.61) and Maddison Gnatt (37:14.06) was 10th to round out the Stephenson Top 10 finishers.

Southwest DeKalb put two runners in the Top 10 as Trinity Stephens-Hill (34:49.68) and Kaila Wimes (34:58.87) finished back-to-back in fifth and sixth, respectively.

Redan and Martin Luther King Jr. did not field enough for a team score, but both teams had a pair of runners in the Top 10.

King’s Morgan Hughes crossed the finish line first in 28:46.91 followed by Redan’s Ceony Jones (30:47.02) in second. King picked up a third place finish from Demetria Lind (31:37.69) and Redan collected the seventh spot as Kyra Smith (35:30.40) got into the Top 10.

Stone Mountain’s Amiyah Wyatt (36:12.00) finished eighth overall in her first race of the season.
