Three DeKalb golfers are moving on to the GHSA State Golf Tournaments set for May 17-18 after qualifying out of their respective Area Golf Tournaments recently.
Dunwoody finished fourth as a team in the Area 4-7A Boys Tournament to pick up a State Sectional berth with an opportunity to reach the Class 7A State Golf Tournament.
Two of the golfers are from Chamblee High School including senior Ethan Santucci and sophomore Sophie Li headed to the Class 5A State Championships.
Santucci put together a nice round of 78 in the Area 3-5A Boys Tournament to finish fifth overall and pick up his state tournament berth. Santucci finished second in the 2021 DCSD Golf Championships earlier this month.
Li, who missed the DCSD Golf Championships due to a nagging injury, put together a round of 98 in the Area 3-5A Girls Tournament to finish eighth overall and pick up a berth in the Class 5A Girls State Tournament.
The Class 5A State Tournaments are set for Green Island Country Club in Columbus on May 17-18.
Arabia Mountain sophomore Isaiah Fleming finished 15th in the Area 2-4A Boys Golf Tournament with a solid round of 90 to grab a berth in the Class 4A Boys Golf State Tournament. He finished tied for ninth at the DCSD Golf Championships this year. He moves on to the Class 4A Tournament on May 17-18 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens.
Druid Hills’ Davis Hall came up one shot shy of qualifying for state with a round of 91 at the Area 2-4A Tournament.
Dunwoody boys team qualified for Class 7A State Sectionals finishing fourth in the Area Tournament with a team total of 356. Dunwoody captured the 2021 DCSD Golf Championships title for the 12th consecutive season.
The Wildcats were led to the fourth place finish by sophomore Braeden Rice with a 76 on the day. Rice won the DCSD Golf Championships low medalist honors with a 78.
The Class 7A Sectionals will be played in Villa Rica, Ga at Mirror Lake CC on Tuesday May 4th.
