Redan remained on an incredible roll, scoring three straight shutouts in moving to 13-0-1 over its last 14 games.

Coach Alexander Wyche’s Raiders stormed past Towers (15-0) April 10, Towers again (16-0) April 12 and Pace Academy (6-0) April 13 to improve to 18-8-1 overall and 10-0-1 in Region 5-AAA.

The win over Pace was the fifth consecutive shutout for the Raiders and eighth overall this season.

Four juniors are swinging the bats well for the Raiders with all four over the .400 average mark. Orlando Adams is hitting .452 with 11 doubles (tied for 1st in county) and 22 RBI to top lineup for Redan. Taj Bradley is hitting .442 (6 doubles, 19 RBI), Chayce Bryant is at .406 (5 doubles, 3 homeruns, 18 RBI) and Hunter Todd is hitting .403 (17 RBI).

Bradley also tops the pitching staff with a 1.77 ERA in 27.3 innings with a 3-2 record overall. A pair of seniors are also doing well on the mound in Darius Pope (5-2, 2.07 ERA, 44 innings, with 58 strikeouts and 18 walks) and Jalan Daniels (3-2, 3.44 ERA, 40.7 innings).

A 7-2 victory over Pace on Monday pushed Redan’s record to 19-8-1 overall and 11-0-1 in Region 5-3A play with two games remaining against Stone Mountain this week. It was also the Raiders’ 10 consecutive victory in a non-losing streak of 14-0-1.

Tucker’s mighty winning streak reached 18 with three impressive triumphs. Coach Vince Byams and the Tigers romped past Mundy’s Mill (11-2) April 10 and Mundy’s Mill again (11-1) April 12 and then pulled out a thrilling 3-2 triumph over Stephenson April 14. Tucker moved to the top of the Region 4-AAAAAA standings at 15-0 and 22-6 overall.

Junior Miles Grayson delivered the key blow in Tucker’s 3-2 triumph over Stephenson April 14, belting a solo homer to break a 2-2 draw in the fifth inning. Senior Emory Willis went the distance on the mound for the Tigers, striking out 11.

Tucker clinched the Region 4-6A title with a 14-0 win over Stephenson this past Monday to improve to 23-7 overall, 16-0 in region play and upped the win streak to 19 games.

Arabia Mountain remained alone atop the Region 5-AAAAA standings at 10-1 with three dominating triumphs last week. Coach Eric Hoxie’s Rams breezed past Lithonia (6-1) April 10, Lithonia again (16-0) April 12 and Cross Keys (16-0) April 14 to move to 15-7 overall.

Coach Lavato Byrd’s Cedar Grove Saints registered a strong 3-0 showing, out-scoring Stone Mountain (14-2) April 10, Stone Mountain again (12-1) April 12 and Towers (14-2) April 13 by a 40-5 margin in improving to 6-12 on the year.

Coach Steve Dennis moved to within two wins of the historic 400 mark with three critical Region 5-AAAAA victories. The Eagles took care of Cross Keys (forfeit) April 10, Cross Keys again (21-0) April 12 and Miller Grove (5-4) April 13 to move to 22-4 overall and 9-2 in the league.

Dennis moved to 399-323-5 on his career and has three more games this week (at Arabia Mountain today, Arabia Mountain home, tomorrow and Decatur home on Saturday) with an opportunity to reach the 400 career victory plateau.

Lakeside’s bats awoke in a big way while scoring 39 runs over three victories last week. Coach Donnie Hayes and the Vikings knocked off Stephenson (19-13) April 10, Decatur (10-6) April 12 and Central Gwinnett (10-6) April 13 to improve to 15-9 overall.

Senior Kiernan Acklin (3-3; 4 RS; 3 RBI and junior Charlie Ludwick (3-4; 4 RBI) put up huge offensive numbers in Lakeside’s 10-6 decision over Central Gwinnett April 14.

Martin Luther King Jr. stayed alive in the race for a state berth out of Region 4-AAAAAA, pulling out a 7-2 triumph over Forest Park April 12. Coach Steven Head’s Lions moved to 7-8 overall with the victory.

Junior Mason Curtis tossed a one-hit shutout for Druid Hills in a 14-0 blanking of Salem April 14, striking out two over three innings. Senior Devin Watson (2-3; 4 RBI; 2 RS; 1 HR), junior Joseph Hiley (2-3; 2 RBI), senior Artez Benton (2-2; 2 RS) and senior Dontravious Huff (2-3; 3 RS) collected two hits each in the victory.
