Blakelyn McClammy’s bases-loaded, two-run double with two out in the bottom of the fifth gave the Stephenson Jaguars a 12-1 victory over the Mt. Zion Bulldogs in a crucial Region 5-3A high school baseball game at Stephenson on Wednesday night.
The Jaguars (13-9, 10-3) held a 9-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth when a pair of two out walks chased Bulldog pitcher Landrum Mangram. A wild pitch scored a run to make it 10-1 and a walk to load the bases by reliever Corey Johns brought McClammy to the plate.
McClammy hit a long fly ball into the gap in left-center field to score two runs and end the game.
Stephenson jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two innings, scoring four in the first and one in the second. The Jaguars took advantage of five walks, two hit batters and stole nine bases to build the 5-1 lead without the aid of a hit.
Mt. Zion (7-8, 7-6) picked up its only run of the game in the top of the second inning on a two-out single to right field by Rashad Charles to score Ronnie Terry who had walked.

Stephenson pitcher Nicholas Northern allowed just seven base runners in the game including three by errors and two hits.
The Jaguars got the bats going in the third inning with four hits including an RBI single by Sammy Jackson and an RBI double by Taveres Miller. A fourth run was nullified by a running into the catcher call for the third out.
Northern tacked on a run in the fourth inning with a groundout to the pitcher scored Anthony Booker who had reached on an infield single to second.
Romando Craddock (1-1), Miles Allen (1-1), Miller (1-1), Anthony Booker (1-3), Blakelyn McClammy (1-3) and Sammy Jackson (1-3) accounted for the six hits by the Jaguars.
Arthur Holt and Rashad Charles had the only hits for the Bulldogs.
The two teams meet in the final game of the two-game series tomorrow at 5:30 pm at Mt. Zion.
