The Dunwoody Lady Wildcats go back-to-back as DeKalb County Girls’ Golf Championships winner as Dunwoody sweeps both the boys’ and girls’ titles. It also gave Dunwoody its eighth county title to move into first place above Lakeside (7).

The 2017 season was a memorable one for the Dunwoody Lady Wildcats as the last sweep of the DeKalb County High School Golf Championships titles and the final year of a four year sweep run by the Dunwoody golf teams.

The Lady Wildcats went five championship seasons without a title after that year before winning the 2024 title and with this year’s title they have back-to-back championships for the first time since 2016-17 with a 283 (86-94-102).

The 283 was 15 strokes better than runner-up Druid Hills that finished with a 298 (97-100-101). It was Druid Hills first second place or better finish in the tournament.

Dunwoody freshman Elizabeth Hanlon made her first year memorable as she claimed medalist honors with a low score of 87, seven strokes ahead of teammate Amelia Mutert who finished with a 94. Mutert shot a 96 a year ago to finish fourth overall.

Cora Webster and Madline Vicine both shot a 102 to tie for sixth and clinch the match and repeat for Dunwoody. Webster bested her score of 103 of a year ago (fifth place) and Vicine knocked four strokes off her 106 that tied her for sixth last season.

Druid Hills best finish in the tournament history was fueled by three golfers in the top six led by Aiko Benford in fourth with a 97 which was short of her 95 and third place finish of a year ago. Milan Walker finished in fifth with a 101 and Tihun Chapman knocked 17 strokes (118) off her ninth place finish of a year ago to score a 101 good for sixth overall.

Chamblee’s Patricia Naveda led Chamblee’s charge into third place as she shot a 95 to claim third in the tournament. Chamblee had a team total of 346 (95-125-126).

Lakeside came in fourth in the team standings with a 380 total (123-125-132) led by Ariel Shoer’s 123 good for a tie for 12th in the individual standings.

Dunwoody’s win gives the Lady Wildcats eight titles overall and breaks a tie with Lakeside (7) for the most DeKalb County girls’ championships.
