The inaugural basketball season for DeKalb elementary schools is winding down as six boys and six girls’ teams play for the 2025 County Championships on Saturday beginning at 8:00 am at Tucker High School.

The Area 1 girls’ title game came down between Henderson Mill and Oak Grove with Henderson Mill coming out on top. Area 2 was decided as Smoke Rise knocked off Pine Ridge and in Area 3 girls’ play it was Barack Obama over Bob Mathis to fill out the girls’ championship bracket.

Boys’ action featured Montgomery over Briarlake in Area 1, Smoke Rise over Midvale in Area 2 and Woodridge over Peachcrest (A) in Area 3.

There will be 10 games on Saturday with the girls of Pine Ridge (Area 2) taking on Oak Grove (Area 1) opening tournament play at 8:00 am at Tucker High School. The winner moves on to face Barack Obama at 11:00 am in the semifinals.

The second first round game girls’ game features Area 1 champ Henderson Mill taking on Area 3 runner-up Bob Mathis at 9:30 am. The winner moves on to face Smoke Rise in the 12:30 pm girls’ semifinal. Winners of the semifinal games move on to the championship round at 2:00 pm

Boys’ action begins at 8:45 am as Area 2 runner-up Midvale squares off with Area 3 runner-up Peachcrest. The winner moves into the 11:45 am semifinal against Area 1 champ Montgomery.

The second boys’ first round game pits Area 2 champ Smoke Rise against Area 1 runner-up Briarlake at 10:15 am. The victor heads into the 1:15 pm semifinal meeting with Area 3 champ Woodridge. Winners of the semifinal games move into the championship round at 2:45 pm.
