The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs rode a 3-0 first half to a 5-1 Region 4-5A girls’ high school soccer victory over the Dunwoody Lady Wildcats at North DeKalb Stadium on Thursday night.

The Lady Bulldogs (4-6, 2-0) got on a 5-0 roll against the Lady Wildcats (4-3, 1-1) when freshman Ella Smith hit a blast from the right wing from about thirty yards out that got under the crossbar to make it 1-0 with 29:32 left in the first half.

Addison Morris upped the lead to 2-0 with 14:24 remaining in the first half as she got free in front of the goal and used soft touch to push the ball past the keeper into the left corner.

Four minutes Dunwoody freshman keeper Sophia Pristach made a big save at the top of the goal only to have it bang off the cross bar right to Morris for an easy second goal and a 3-0 Chamblee lead with 10:15 to play in the first half.

Chamblee took 12 shots in the first half to pick up the three goals and almost had two more as shots hit the crossbar and a post to bound away.

Pristach picked up six saves in the first half as she fought off the Chamblee pressure.

Patricia Naveda increased the lead to 4-0 with 19:23 to play as she took a pass and nailed a shot straight downfield into the net.

A penalty on Dunwoody gave Smith the opportunity to match Morris with two goals in the game as she put the penalty kick past Pristach to make it 5-0 with 17:40 remaining in the game.

Dunwoody prevented the shutout as a long pass downfield was chased down by Shelby Verlander who beat Chamblee keeper Julia Moore at the 12:40 mark for the final of 5-1.

Pristach finished with 10 saves in the loss as the Bulldogs tested her with 22 shots on the night. Zoe McNeil played a scoreless first half in net for Chamblee including a save on Dunwoody’s only true shot on goal in the first half.
