The Oakview Elementary School dance team scored 351 points out of a possible 400 to capture the inaugural DeKalb County Elementary School Dance Championship.

DeKalb County Schools Athletics held its inaugural Elementary School Dance Championships at Tucker High School this past week with Oakview Elementary coming away with the title.

The top six schools advanced from each of the three Area Championships with Oakview grabbing the title with a score of 351 out of 400. Narvie J. Harris finished as the runner-up followed by Ashford Park in third to round out the top three teams.

The schools that competed in the Championships included the top six from the three Areas including Ashford Park, Woodward, Dunwoody, Austin, Oak Grove, John Lewis from Area 1: Avondale, Smoke Rise, Rock Chapel, Shadow Rock, Stone Mountain, Allgood from Area 2; and Kelley Lake, Barack H. Obama, Oakview, Narvie Harris, McNair, Peachcrest from Area 3.

Oakview followed up on its Area 3 title earlier this season to hoist the county trophy. McNair was second in Area and Barack Obama finished third.

Narvie J. Harris put on an exciting performance to take second at county with 322 points after not finishing in the Top 3 at their competition.

Ashford Park had finished third in Area 1 and upped its routine to take third overall with a score of 215.

The Top 3 finishers in each Area were recognized at the championship including Area 1 champion Austin followed by Oak Grove and Ashford Park.

Area 2 recognition was giving to area champ Rock Chapel followed by Shadow Rock in second and Stone Mountain in third.

Oakview was called as the Area 1 champion with McNair in second and Barack Obama in third.
