Host Miller Grove picked up a pair of wins over Redan in the boys’ and girls’ nightcap games of the Region 6-2A high school basketball tournament at Miller Grove on Monday night.
The wins have the Miller Grove teams in the semifinals of the tournament with a playoff berth in hand as they battle for a spot in the finals.
The Lady Wolverines (12-8) fueled by a 13-point first half by Kamiya Moore, which included three three-pointers in the first quarter, and got out to a 27-14 halftime lead.
After going 0-6 from the field with a pair of turnovers to start the second half, the advantage dropped to even points twice in the first quarter as Redan’s Londyn Felder scored six points in the period including a three0pointer with less than two minutes left in the first quarter.
Miller Grove answered with a three-pointer by Moore who then assisted Areiyonna Christian for another basket to open a 37-24 lead heading into the final quarter.
Moore opened the fourth quarter with three-pointer on an assist from Christian to make it 40-24 and it would be the last basket the Wolverines would make in the game as subs came in off the bench.
Redan took full advantage score 12 unanswered points including a three-pointer by Jamiya Homes, a put back by Jaylah Welton, four free throws from Legend Williams and two free throws by Aubri Brooks.
The clock was not in their favor as the final points came with 7.3 seconds remaining.

Miller Grove’s comeback was keyed by hitting the backboards as the Raiders had 28 for the half and 45 for the game with three players reaching double figures in rebounds. Jaylah Welton led the way with eight points and 16 rebounds, Legend Williams with sic points and 10 rebounds and Pryncess Anderson added four points and 11 rebounds.
