The DCSD Middle School Basketball Championships semifinals are set for Wednesday at four different sites. Games begin at 5:30 pm.

The Champion Lady Chargers led the way into the DeKalb County Middle School Basketball girls’ semifinals with a 52-23 win over the Druid Hills Lady Dragons on Saturday to remain undefeated at 14-0.

The four boys’ and four girls’ teams that advance play on Wednesday at 5:30 pm at four different sites as they play for a spot in the finals on Saturday afternoon at Miller Grove High School.

Champion’s Rakiah Miller had a huge game for the Lady Chargers hitting for 31 points and grabbing nine rebounds in the contest at Champion. Madison Diggs added an 18-point, 10-steals, double-double for Champion in the win. Druid Hills finished the season 7-8.

Champion hosts Beacon Hill (12-3) on Wednesday night at 5:30 pm for a spot in Saturday’s championship game at 2:00 pm. Champion won the first meeting 35-34 at Beacon Hill back on December 7.

GIRLS RECAPS
Beacon Hill 38, Bethune 30
The Beacon Hill Lady Bulldogs continued their late season climb by knocking off the No. 2 seeded Bethune Lady Bulldogs 38-30 at Bethune on Saturday night.

Beacon Hill (12-3) had a pair of players hit double figures on the night led by Stella Tucker with 13 points and Leighellen Lucas with 12. Beacon Hill has won eight of its last nine games with only loss coming in the regular season finale against Cedar Grove by a score of 44-18. Bethune finishes the season at 12-2.

Beacon Hill (12-3) travels Champion (14-0) on Wednesday night at 5:30 pm for a spot in Saturday’s championship game at 2:00 pm. Champion won the first meeting 35-34 at Beacon Hill back on December 7.

Chapel Hill 46, Salem 26
The defending champions Chapel Hill Lady Panthers moved into the semifinals with a 46-26 home win over the Salem Lady Lions on Saturday.

Faith Andrews (7 steals) and Mauri Barnes (8 rebounds, 5 assists) both hit for 17 points in the win for Chapel Hill (13-1) while Londynn Nolley added 15 rebounds to go with eight points and nine steals. Chapel Hill has put together a 13-game win streak after a season opening 31-30 loss to Cedar Grove (13-1), their semifinal opponent. The two face off at Chapel Hill. Salem wrapped up its season with a 10-5 record.

Cedar Grove 46, Columbia 21
The Cedar Grove Lady Saints rolled to a 46-21 home victory over the Columbia Lady Eagles on Saturday night to advance to the semifinals.

Cedar Grove (13-1) was led by three players in double figures including Ziryah Bell with 18 points (9 steals, 5 assists, 6 rebounds), Jessica Morton with 11 points (23 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 steals) and Conner Hall with 11 points (3 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists). Columbia wrapped up its season with a 10-5 mark.

Cedar Grove travels to Chapel Hill (13-1) and is the only team to defeat the defending champions Lady Panthers this season winning a 31-30 nailbiter in the season opener.

BOYS’ RECAPS
The Stephenson Jaguars continued their strong season with a 49-38 home victory over the Beacon Hill Bulldogs on Saturday night to advance to the semifinals which includes the top four teams from Region 1.

Stephenson (13-1), the No. 1 seed, was led by Terry Coleman with 22 points (9-12 free throws). He was joined in double figures by teammate King Abrams with 14 points (6 rebounds, 4-4 free throws). Jacob Coates added 11 rebounds to go with five points for the Jaguars. Beacon Hill wrapped a 9-6 campaign with the loss.

The Jaguars move on to face Region 1 No. 3 seed Chapel Hill (11-4), the defending champions, at home on Wednesday. Stephenson had a 46-37 home victory over Chapel Hill back on December 7.

Chapel Hill 34, Henderson 31
The Chapel Hill Panthers jumped out to a 12-0 first-quarter lead on the Henderson Cougars on the way to a hard-fought 34-29 win at Henderson on Saturday night.

Chapel Hill (11-4) was led by Amari Stocks with 10 points (5 rebounds, 2 steals) and Ryan Butler with nine points (4 rebounds, 5 steals). Henderson finished the year at 9-5.

Chapel Hill, the defending champions and No. 3 seed out of Region 1, have a rematch at No. 1 Stephenson (13-1) on Wednesday. Stephenson won 46-37 earlier this season.

Druid Hills 43, Peachtree 33
The Druid Hills Dragons marched into the semifinals with a 43-33 home victory over the Region 2 No. 3 seed Peachtree Patriots on Saturday.

The Region 1 No. 2 seeded Dragons (12-2) got a game-high 20 points from Phillip Claybrooks in the win. Bryson Hunter and Justin Gustard added eight points each in the win. Peachtree (10-5) was led by Kaiden Horton with a team-high 16 points and Kody Kreiger added six points.

Druid Hills rebounded from back-to-back losses to Stone Mountain and Stephenson in December to win six consecutive games to get the host role in a rematch on Wednesday with the No. 4 seeded Redan Raiders (12-3) whom they defeated 39-29 in the third week of the season.

Redan 46, Champion 36
The Redan Raiders knocked off the Region 2 No. 1 seeded Champion Chargers 49-36 on the road on Saturday to advance to the semifinals.

Redan (12-3) got a huge night from Dalemontae McCallum with a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double in the win. Messiah Gibson added eight points and Benjamin Jackson had eight rebounds to go with five points. Champion finished the season 11-3 as the Region 2 champion.

Redan bounced back from back-to-back losses to Chapel Hill and Stephenson to put together three wins in a row heading into the rematch at Druid Hills on Wednesday.
