Four boys’ and four girls’ teams advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2025 DeKalb County Middle School Basketball Tournament with wins on Wednesday.

The Druid Hills Lady Dragons (7-7) moved into the girls’ quarterfinal round via a 35-21 victory over the Peachtree Lady Patriots (5-9). Madison Evans was the driving force with a game-high 15 points for Druid Hills which got seven points each from Kiyah Wilcox and Saniya Wright. Melanie Jones led Peachtree with 10 points on the night.

Druid Hills advances to take on undefeated Champion Lady Chargers (13-0) at Champion with tip set for 10:00 am. Champion was the Region 1 champ this season.

GIRLS RECAPS
Columbia 46, Chamblee 11
The Columbia Lady Eagles (10-4) advanced to the second round by knocking off the Chamblee Lady Bulldogs (7-7) 46-11 at Columbia. The one-two punch of Maliyah Elliot (21 points) and Mariona Williams (16 points) was too much for Chamblee.

Columbia moves into the quarterfinals and travels to Cedar Grove (12-1) for a 10:00 am game on Saturday. Cedar Grove finished as the Region 2 runner-up.

Beacon Hill 47, Miller Grove 25
The Beacon Hill Lady Bulldogs (11-3) have been on the rise the second half of the season and used that momentum to defeat the Miller Grove Lady Wolverines (8-6) 47-25 at Beacon Hill in the opening round. Beacon Hill’s improvement has been keyed by a balanced attack as shown in the win as Stella Rucker led the way with 11 points and Leighellen Lucas with 10 points. Zola Vander (8 points), Juliette Janke (7 points) and Lydia Robillard (6 points) showed the balance scoring.

Beacon Hill travels to Bethune (12-1) to take on the Lady Lions in a 10:00 am game on Saturday. Bethune finished as the Region 1 runner-up this season losing its only game of the year to Region 1 winner and defending champion Chapel Hill.

Salem 44, Stephenson 37
The Salem Lady Lions (10-4) picked up a first round victory in a 44-37 win over the Stephenson Lady Jaguars (6-8). Ken Thompson fueled the win with a game-high 24 points (8 steals). Thompson was aided in the win by Mariah Jackson (9 points, 15 rebounds) and Ari Facey (5 points, 4 rebounds). Stephenson got seven points each from Riqual Walker and Eries Drake.

Salem moves into the quarterfinals with a trip to defending champion Chapel Hill (12-1) on Saturday at 10:00 am.

BOYS RECAPS
The defending champions Chapel Hill Panthers (10-4) moved a step closer to defending their title with a 33-23 win over the Chamblee Bulldogs (6-8) on Wednesday night. The Panthers once again used a suffocating defense to force turnovers and were led by Amari Stocks (11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals) and Ryan Butler (9 points, 4 rebounds, 5 steals).

Chapel Hill earned a trip to Henderson (9-4) to face the Cougars at 10:00 am on Saturday.

Beacon Hill 45, Stone Mountain 41
Beacon Hill (9-5) rallied from a halftime deficit to fend off the valiant efforts of the visiting Stone Mountain Pirates (7-7) for a 45-41 win to move into the quarterfinals. The Bulldogs got a big night from Hollis Rucker with a 22-point, 13-rebound double-double while Hugh Ohlandt added 13 points and seven rebounds.

Beacon Hill travels to face the Region 1 champs Stephenson Jaguars (12-1) in a 10:00 am game on Saturday.

Peachtree 41, Miller Grove 38
The Peachtree Patriots (10-4) held off the Miller Grove Wolverines (8-6) 41-38 to advance to the quarterfinals of the boys’ bracket. Cody Krieger hit for 16 points and Kaiden Horton joined him in double figures with 11 points.

Peachtree goes on the road to Druid Hills (11-2) at 10:00 am on Saturday.

Redan 40, Cedar Grove 39
The Redan Raiders (11-3) pulled out a hard-fought 40-39 win over the Cedar Grove Saints (8-6) to advance to the tournament quarterfinals. Dalemontae McCallum keyed the win with 18 points and Jervontae Barber added 11.

Redan heads to Champion (11-2) to take on the Chargers on the road in the quarterfinals at 11:30 am on Saturday.
