The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs took home a second consecutive DCSD County swim title this past weekend. They completed a second consecutive sweep of the titles joining the boys’ team.

The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs swim team won a second consecutive DeKalb County Swim and Dive Championships title for the second time in school history with a 223-207 win over the Decatur Lady Bulldogs on Saturday at Chamblee High School.

Chamblee won the 2019 and 2020 titles to mark their first back-to-back titles and combined with the Bullsharks win in the boys’ meet gave Chamblee back-to-back sweeps of the titles.

Freshman Brooke Kehl joined juniors Mina Overway, Mena Alexandrova and Anna Entrekin to jump start the repeat opening with a win in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:38.80 just two seconds off the record pace set a year ago by Chamblee.

Junior Mena Alexandrova collected one of two solo gold medals for Chamblee as she clocked a 1:59.39 to win the 200-yard freestyle event. Kehl joined Alexandrova in to top of the podium as the ninth grader swam to the gold in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.96.

Chamblee went on to collect three silver medals and one bronze on the way to the title.

Second place Decatur won two solo titles and one relay while also collecting four silver medals and two bronze medals to finish as the runner-up.

Juniors Melanie Joyner (100 freestyle, 55.69) and Emily Deeb (100-backstroke, 1:03.98) won the individual gold medals. Joyner teamed up with Leah Robertson, Laura Durbin and Sidney Cape to claim the 200 freestyle relay title with a time of 1:44.84.

Lakeside finished third overall with 183 points despite being shutout at the top of the podium by claiming two silver medals and six bronze medals.

Dunwoody (142) finished fourth overall for a second consecutive season picking up a pair individual gold medals along the way. Senior Eden Dwoskin qualified for state with a gold medal winning total of 372.60 in the one-meter diving and Reese Benton won the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:20.86 also qualifying for the state meet. Dunwoody added one silver and one bronze medal to the tally.

The Tucker Lady Tigers (118) finished fifth for a second consecutive season led by senior Kate Nawyn who won gold in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.36) and second in the 50 freestyle. Tucker managed one more silver and two bronze medals.

Freshman Ansley Rollins doubled up on gold medals to pace Druid Hills (77) sixth place finish on the day. Rollins won the 50 freestyle (25.07) and 100 butterfly (1:00.74).

The GHSA State Championships are set for Tuesday (Feb. 4) at Westminster (diving) and all other events set for Wednesday (Feb. 4) through Saturday (Feb. 8).
