The Chamblee Bullsharks (Bulldogs) boys’ swim and dive team collected a third consecutive DeKalb County Swimming and Diving Championships trophy over the weekend with a 232-205 win over the Lakeside Vikings at the Chamblee pool.
Chamblee’s win along with the Lady Bulldogs two-peat in the girls’ competition gave the Chamblee teams a repeat of a sweep of the boys’ and girls’ titles. It was Chamblee’s tenth county swim championship.
A total of four gold medals, four silver and four bronze were brought home by Chamblee while seven swimmers hit state qualifying marks in 11 events along with all three relay teams in another phenomenal performance in the county meet.
Chamblee started things off by swimming to the 200-yard medley relay title as the group of Ian Combs, Thomas Adam, Garrett Peters and Alex Alexandrov put up a time of 1:38.80 for the gold.
Senior Ian Combs captured the 200-yard individual medley gold with a time of 1:53.86 and Thomas Adam matched him with a title in the 100 breaststroke in 1:22.79. Diver Brice Zinger hit a state qualifying mark of 308.80 to take home the gold in the one-meter diving event.
