The No. 8 ranked Stephenson Jaguars jumped out to a 28-0 lead on the way to a 41-7 Class 3A second round playoff victory over the Jenkins Warriors at Hallford Stadium in Clarkston on Friday night.
Junior running back Anthony Booker put four touchdowns on the board for the second consecutive playoff game while rushing for over 150 yards in the game.
Booker got the Jaguars out to an early 7-0 lead with a 25-yard touchdown run with two minutes to play in the first quarter. Adam Zalaya tacked on the extra point.
Stephenson (9-3) extended the lead to 14-0 at the half behind Booker’s second touchdown run of the night with three minutes to play in the half. Zelaya was good on the PAT.
Booker opened the second half with a 65-yard touchdown run and Zalaya notched his third PAT of the game to make it 21-0 with just a minute gone in the third quarter.
The lead increased to 28-0 just three minutes later on another Booker run to the end zone. Zalaya made it 4-4 on PATs. It was Booker’s 13th touchdown of the season and eighth in the past two games.
Jenkins (10-2) got on the board with two minutes left in the third period on a Reico Collins touchdown to pull the Warriors within 28-7.
Stephenson quarterback Marte Barton, 13th all-time on the DeKalb career passing list with 4,537 yards coming into the game, made it 35-7 with just under a minute to play in the third quarter as he connected with Will Chaney. Zalaya put the PAT through the uprights.
Romando Craddock closed out the scoring with 6:49 to play as he went 21 yards for a touchdown.
Stephenson gets a third home game of the playoffs as No. 18 seed Southeast Bulloch (10-2) knocks off No. 2 seed Harlem (10-2) 21-0. The game is tentatively set for Hallford Stadium at 7:30 pm next Friday.
