Four games into the DeKalb County middle school basketball season only Bethune and Miller Grove boast undefeated boys’ and girls’ programs as the teams head into Thanksgiving break.

Both schools are currently on top of the standings in Region 1 and are not scheduled to meet until Wednesday, December 18 at Miller Grove.

Bethune kept their records unblemished with a non-region, home sweep of Tucker on Wednesday. The Lady Lions (4-0, 1-0) opened the night with a 46-16 victory over the Tucker Lady Tigers (2-2, 1-0). Tucker was led by Selicia Edwards (4 steals) and Olivia Hoxie (2 steals) with five points each in the game.

The Lions improved to 4-0 by completing the sweep with a 47-38 victory over the Tigers (0-4). Jordan Franklin had a big night for the Lions with a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double in the game. Kason Nixon added 10 points for Bethune and Montavious Washington added nine points (9 assists, 5 steals).

Miller Grove matched Bethune’s sweep by taking a pair of home games against Lithonia to keep both teams undefeated at 4-0 on the season. The Lady Wolverines (4-0, 1-0) knocked off the Lady Bulldogs (2-1) 37-21 to open the sweep.

The Wolverines (4-0, 1-0) finished off the sweep via a 49-35 win over the Bulldogs (0-3, 0-0) in the nightcap. Casey Graves soared to a 22-point, 21-rebound double-double along with four steals in the victory. Taron Braziel (2 steals) and Jerry Exon (7 rebounds) both contributed 10 points for Miller Grove.

GIRLS RECAPS
The Cedar Grove Lady Saints and Champion Lady Chargers are the only other undefeated teams after victories on Wednesday as they remain tied atop the Region 2 standings at 4-0 overall and 1-0 on in the region.

Cedar Grove raced past the Redan Lady Raiders (0-4, 0-1) 47-7 to remain undefeated. Jessica Morton put together a 16-point, 15-rebound double-double to lead the Lady Saints. Ziryah Bell (5 assists, 5 steals) contributed 14 points and Melania Davis (6 steals, 2 assists) added nine point for the winners. Naziyah Wilson led Redan with five points in the game.

Champion kept pace with Cedar Grove by knocking off the Columbia Lady Eagles (2-2, 0-1) 34-22 at home on Wednesday. Rakiah Miller (12 points, 9 rebounds) led the Lady Chargers with help from Madison Diggs (10 points, 7 steals) and Nkechi Ugboaja (7 points, 13 rebounds, 5 steals).

Salem 36, Druid Hills 31
The Salem Lady Lions (2-2, 0-1) won a non-region meeting at Druid Hills 36-31 over the Lady Dragons (1-3, 1-0). Madison Evans hit for 15 points to lead Druid Hills.

Stephenson 31, Peachtree 14
The Stephenson Lady Jaguars (2-2, 1-0) won a non-region contest 31-14 at home against the Peachtree Lady Patriots (1-3, 0-1). Eries Drake was the leading scoring for Stephenson with 10 points with Ava Gilreath adding nine points and Tytianna Moore-Harris with eight points. Caroline Branam topped the scoring for Peachtree with six points.

Chamblee 30, Stone Mountain 4
The Chamblee Lady Bulldogs (2-1, 0-0) won a non-region contest 30-4 over the Stone Mountain Lady Pirates (0-4, 0-1) at Stone Mountain. Stone Mountain got two points each from Jalayah Jackson and Elayjah King.

Chapel Hill 51, Beacon Hill 21
The Chapel Hill Lady Panthers (3-1, 1-0) ran their win streak to three games after a season opening by defeating the Beacon Hill Lady Bulldogs 51-21 at Chapel Hill on Wednesday. Beacon Hill was led by Lydia Robillard with five points and Julie Janke with four points.

Freedom 30, Sequoyah 26
The Freedom Lady Rams (1-3, 0-1) pulled out a 30-26 home win over the Sequoyah Lady Braves (1-3, 0-1) on Wednesday. Marcelline Samya (13 points, 3 assists, 5 steals) and Fatuma Kasike (12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) teamed up for 25 of the Rams 30 points and Chibola Biaya (5 points, 4 steals) finished off the scoring.

BOYS RECAPS
Druid Hills is one of four boys’ teams still undefeated following a 39-13 home win over the Salem Lions (0-4, 0-1) on Wednesday. Phillip Claybrooks hit for 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Dragons in the win. Denaris Owens and Dakieron Steele had six points each for Salem.

Chapel Hill 32, Beacon Hill 29
The Chapel Hill Panthers matched their girls’ win streak of three following a season opening loss by picking up a thrilling 32-29 win over the Beacon Hill Bulldogs at home on Wednesday. Zion Pruitt (6-points, 4 steals) had a steal in the final seconds to seal the win for the Panthers (3-1, 1-0). Dylen Sanford (3 assists, 2 steals) added eight points in the win. Hollis Rucker had the Bulldogs in the game with his 11-point, seven-rebound performance while teammate Cabot Williams added eight points.

Redan 37, Cedar Grove 25
The Redan Raiders (3-1, 0-1) grabbed a non-region 37-25 win over the Cedar Grove Saints (1-3, 0-1) to rebound from a loss last weekend. Zyon Freeman (6 points, 7 rebounds) and Chase Thomas (6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals) led the Saints in the loss.

Henderson 54, McNair 26
The Henderson Cougars (3-1, 1-0) kept pace atop the Region 2 standings by knocking off the McNair Mustangs (0-4, 0-1) 54-26 on Wednesday. Drew Mus led the way with 10 points for the Cougars while Aubrey Williams and Jacob Miller both hit for nine points in the win.

Freedom 51, Sequoyah 16
The Freedom Rams (2-2, 0-1) evened their record with a 51-16 home triumph over the Sequoyah Braves (0-4, 0-1) on Wednesday. A. Graves led all scorers with 21 points to pace the Rams while S. Holder added 10. Joysber Castro led Sequoyah with eight points.

Champion 70, Columbia 15
The Champion Chargers upped their record to 2-2 with a 70-15 home win over the Columbia Eagles (1-3, 0-1) on Wednesday. Brayden Sanders led the way with 15 points (7-10 shooting) for the Chargers and Aiden Clark put up 11 points.
