The Miller Grove Wolverines (19-2) travel to Columbus on Wednesday to take on Stephens County (21-6) at 11:00 am in the Class 2A Elite 8 on Field 6 of the Columbus Softball Complex.
Miller Grove, the No. 5 seed in the state playoffs, swept No. 28 seed Hardaway (8-0, 13-1) and No. 12 seed Thomson (9-1, 11-1) to advance to the Elite 8 for the first time in program history.
Stephens County, the No. 13 seed, swept No. 20 seed Hart County before knocking No. 4 seed Columbus out with a 13-0 win in game three of the second round best-of-three series.
A win by Miller Grove would advance them to a 1:00 pm game on Thursday against the No. 1 seed Appling County and No. 8 seed Pike County winner. A loss would put them in a 5:00 pm losers’ bracket game on Thursday against the Appling County/Pike County loser.
