McNair rushed for 279 yards and four touchdowns on the way to a 27-18 Division 1 – Region 4-1A win over the Towers Titans at Cobb Stadium on Thursday to give the Mustangs a third consecutive win in the series.

The Mustangs (3-6, 1-4) ground game was at its best in an eight-play drive that drained over five minutes of the fourth quarter and all but sealed the victory as Emmanuel Clark took a pitch, swept right and turned the corner for a 13-yard touchdown run with just 4:07 left in the game. Kobby Kobby extended the Mustang lead to 27-12 as he hit the PAT.

Towers would not go down easily marching 65 yards in 12 plays to close the gap to 27-18 on Quaricus Hurley 22-yard pass to Travon Milsap for the touchdown with just 26.3 seconds left on the game clock. A try for two went incomplete.

The Titans (3-5, 1-4) tried for the onside kick but could not recover the football in a scramble as McNair’s Keyonte Phillips corralled the football. The Mustangs then ran out the final 25 seconds to close out the win.

McNair got on the scoreboard first less than two minutes into the game as Emmanuel Clark recovered a fumble on the Towers 40-yard line. The first play following the recover McNair’s Anterrion Theodore found a big hole up the middle and raced 40 yards into the end zone with 10:07 left in the first quarter. The PAT was wide left to keep the game at 6-0 in favor of the Mustangs.

Towers answered later in the quarter as Quaricus Hurley dropped back on a fourth down and eight play and threw over the middle to a streaking Kayden Patterson. The pass hit him in stride at the goal line for the touchdown. The two-point attempt was no good with 1:30 left in the period for the 6-6 tie.

Towers closed the gap to 20-12 with 34 seconds remaining in the third quarter as Hurley threw left on a screen pass to Jaylen Robinson who got around the corner for a 10-yard scoring play. The two-point try was no good.

Anterrion Theodore finished with 129 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries to lead the Mustangs’ offense. Victor added 73 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.
