The Stone Mountain Pirates celebrated Senior Night by winning their first game of the 2024 football season by a score of 38-0 over the Cross Keys Phoenix.

Quarterback Braydon Suprisse got the Pirates (1-7) on the scoreboard on the first snap of the as he went 54 yards to a touchdown. Erick Barrios hit the PAT to make it 7-0 just 25 seconds into the game.

Cross Keys had to punt but got the ball back with a fumble recovery by Anthony Macario only to turn it over on downs as a pass from Christian Holmes to Gustavo Martinez was overturned into an incompletion.

Surprisse dropped back on third and 10 and connected with Andrew Davis for a 59-yard touchdown play to increase the lead to 13-0. Stone Mountain forced Cross Keys to punt again. With just 33.3 seconds left in the first quarter, the Pirates got a one-yard touchdown run by Carlos Hammonds to make it 19-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Surprisse struck for a touchdown with 7:20 left in on the clock as he got into the end zone on a two-yard scamper. Hammonds grabbed his second touchdown of the night slipping in on a six-yard run to make it a 32-0 game at the half.

The Pirates tacked on one last score with 5:56 left in the third quarter when the duo of Surprisse and Davis combined for their second touchdown pass of the night. Surprisse threw a dart to Davis streaking down the left sideline to the end zone for the final of 38-0.

Surprisse finished the game with eight carries for 137 yards and two touchdowns while going 4-9 through the air, including the touchdown passes of 59 and 35 yards to Davis.

Druid Hills 28, Northview 12
The Druid Hills Red Devils got some big plays on the way to a 28-12 Region 5-4A road victory over the Northview Titans on Friday night.

Druid Hills (3-5, 2-4) was leading 7-6 just before the half, Malachi Pace dropped back and hit Brelon Cade for a 26-yard touchdown pass. Wyatt Bennett hit the PAT to make it a 14-6 lead at the break.

The game remained 14-6 until Zachary Manning scored on an 11-yard touchdown run to up the lead to 21-6 with Bennett’s PAT.

Northview (1-7, 1-5) was driving near the end of the game when Druid Hills defensive back Mike Ware picked off a pass and raced 94 yards for the pick-six. Bennett hit is fourth PAT of the night for the final of 28-12.

Stephenson 45, Riverdale 6
The Stephenson Jaguars kept the Region 5-3A title hopes alive by knocking off the Riverdale Raiders 45-6 on Friday night at Southern Crescent Stadium.

Stephenson (5-3, 3-1) got a pair of touchdown runs by Jayden Johnson on the way to the round of the Raiders (0-8, 0-5). Quarterback Marte Barton added another rushing TD in the win.

Towers 34, Utopia 0
The Towers Titans went on the road to defeat Utopia 34-0 in Region 4-A Division 1 to up their record to 3-4 on the season.

Neroy Tugwell led the offense with a pair of rushing touchdowns in the win. Quaricus Hurley and Jylen Robinson also pitched in with a touchdown each in the game.

Tra Wooten notched a punt return for a touchdown on special teams.
