Eight DeKalb County volleyball teams head into state playoff competition on Tuesday (today) and Wednesday with eyes on a state championship trophy.
Class 4A Druid Hills and Class 2A Miller Grove and Redan open on Tuesday.
Redan (9-9) kicks things off with a home match as the No. 12 seed in the state tournament hosting No. 21 Union County (16-18) at 5:00 pm. Redan is making a second consecutive state tournament appearance and was the Region 6-2A runner-up.
Region 6-2A champion Miller Grove (18-2) was seeded fifth in the Class 2A bracket and plays host to Spencer (9-22), the No. 28 seed at 5:30 pm. It is Miller Grove’s first playoff appearance since 2017.
Druid Hills (28-18) drew the No. 3 seed out of Region 5-4A and hits the road to Region 1-4A no. 2 seed New Hampstead (17-13) for a 5:30 pm date tonight. A playoff win would give the Red Devils (499-346-2) program its 500th victory.
Five teams take the court on Wednesday with Chamblee hosting a Class 5A match and Stephenson hosting in Class 3A.
Chamblee (31-12), the Region 4-5A runner-up, is making a 13th consecutive appearance in the state playoffs as they host a 3:30 pm first round match on Wednesday against Region 3-5A No. 3 seed Newnan (16-21). Chamblee is three wins from its 700th victory in program history sitting at 697-413.
Lakeside (23-12), the No. 3 seed out of Region 4-5A travels to Northgate (27-14) for a 5:30 pm match.
Three Class 3A teams are in action on Wednesday including Stephenson (12-12), the No. 13 seed, hosting No. 20 seed Fayette County (15-17) at 5:00 pm.
Stone Mountain (8-13), the No. 25 seed, is on the road at No. 8 seed Heritage-Catoosa (26-5) with the match set for 5:00 pm. Cedar Grove, the No. 27 seed, heads to No. 6 seed White County (29-9) with a time to be announced.
