The Lakeside Vikings built a 34-17 lead and held on as they knocked off the Dunwoody Wildcats 34-31 in a Region 4-5A high school football meeting at Adams Stadium on Friday night.
Lakeside quarterback Kyle Davis ran for a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter to send the Vikings (3-2, 2-0) to a 21-17 lead at the half.
He then added to the lead with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jayson Michel in the third quarter. Tristen Lewis scored the second of his two touchdowns on the night with a six-yard scamper to the end zone after a big tackle for a loss by senior defensive tackle Makhi Williams-Lee gave the Vikings good field position.
The Wildcats (1-4, 0-2) put two scores up in the fourth quarter to put the pressure on before coming up short.
Lakeside hosts Tri-Cities (4-0, 2-0) which knocked off Shiloh 20-18 on Thursday at Adams Stadium. Dunwoody faces off with undefeated Decatur (5-0, 2-0) at North DeKalb Stadium on Friday.
Lithonia 42, Northview 0
The Lithonia Bulldogs got back on the winning track following a bye week with a 42-0 Region 5-4A road win over the Northview Titans on Friday night.
Lithonia (3-1, 1-1) evened their region record at 1-1 behind some big performances by players on both sides of the football. Junior quarterback Jamon Coggins hit on 13-22 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns, one that went for 55 yards to junior running back Albert Gooding. Gooding added 11 carries for 88 yards and two more scores in the game.
Coggins also connected with Armani Myco and Anthony Flournoy on touchdown passes and Chase Livsey added a touchdown run.
The defensive shutout featured 14 tackles for a loss and three sacks. Tico Crittendon and Josias Dore both had four tackles for a loss with Dore picking up one of the sacks. Jamari Davis and Bobby Price both added a sack.
Lithonia will host Druid Hills (2-3, 0-2) on Friday at Godfrey Stadium in another Region 5-4A collision. Druid Hills is coming off a tough 57-7 loss to Region 5-4A foe Marist last weekend.
