Lakeside senior lacrosse player Indiana Crawford adds statewide Positive Athlete honors as he was named the Georgia Lacrosse Positive Athlete of the Year as announced by the Positive Athlete of Georgia Organization.
Crawford has served as a team captain of the Vikings’ lacrosse team as well as a captain and state meet participant in swim at Lakeside.
The senior is an active student in the community and this year spoke to elementary students at Sagamore Hills Elementary School about being a positive person in every facet of life.
His keys to this positive lifestyle are physical and mental health. Living a healthy lifestyle and keeping a personal fitness routine go a long way in helping build positivity in life.
He also knows the huge factor mental health plays in a person’s life. Crawford says communication and asking for help if struggling mentally with any problems is very important.
This attitude helped him in qualifying for the state swimming and diving meet in the 50-yard freestyle and relay events over the past two seasons.
He was named the Atlanta Region Lacrosse Positive Athlete earlier this spring.
Crawford is heading to Young Harris College in the fall to continue his education and lacrosse play.
Crawford and the other statewide winners will be honored by Positive Athlete Georgia in a ceremony in early June. Winners can also receive scholarships through the efforts of Positive Athlete and its partners. The organization boasts over $350,000 in scholarships awarded to its honorees.
