Chamblee gymnast Sarah Wolf performed in the Class 1A-5A Gymnastics State Preliminaries on April 17 and her fourth place finish in the All-Around qualified her for the state finals tonight (Friday, April 19) competition at 5:00 at Buford Arena.
Wolf’s all-around score of 37.075 was just 1.125 behind lead qualifier Hannah Shultz’s (Bremen) 38.200.
The Chamblee senior finished in the Top 9 of all the events to qualify for the finals. Wolf put together a second place performance in the floor exercise with a score of 9.45 just 0.20 behind Shultz in the event.
A seventh place score of 9.375 in the beam was behind North Oconee’s Emma Howells’ 9.900 mark.
Wolf finished eight on the bars with a score of 9.025 just 0.475 behind Howell’s 9.5 in the event. She was in a three-way tie for ninth in the vault with a score of 9.225.
Wolf has been an integral part of Chamblee’s three DeKalb County Championships teams (2021, 2022, 2024) finishing second in the all-around in 2021 and winning the individual crown in 2022 and 2024. She won gold in the floor and bars and was second on the beam.
This marks the second year for a DeKalb gymnast to reach the state finals as Wolf follows 2023 DeKalb champion Nyla Loyd of Stephenson who finished fifth in the 2023 state meet.
