The Dunwoody Wildcats made it a clean sweep of the South Cobb Eagles in Region 4-6A soccer action at Dunwoody winning the boys’ contest 3-0 in the nightcap of the Dunwoody Senior Night matches.
The Wildcats (4-3-2, 1-2) got on the board early as senior Miles Scharf who was given the start despite an ankle injury on senior scored with a blast from the left side with 37:15 to play in the opening half. Scharf was supposed to exit early due to the injury but the Wildcats forgot to kick the ball out of bounds and he took it in for the score.
Dunwoody kept the pressure on South Cobb keeper Yeshua Carbajal with 10 shots on goal in the first half. A cross from captain Will Lamb was put in the net by Daniel Aguilar at the 19:22 mark of the first half and would send the Wildcats into the break up 2-0.
Carbajal had seven saves in the first half while Eagles (3-5, 1-3) managed just four shots on goal. Dunwoody keeper Caleb Boggs had three saves in the half to keep the Eagles scoreless, including one with just five seconds remaining.
The game remained 2-0 until Dunwoody lined up for a corner kick by Lamb as the clock ticked towards the 19-minute mark. Lamp lofted a ball in front of the goal and Jordi Orellana headed it into the net to make the final of 3-0.
Boggs finished the night with five saves as his defensive teammates limited the Eagles to just eight shots on goal, two coming on long free kicks.

The Lady Wildcats got the night off to a good start with a 9-0 win in the opening contest against South Cobb.
Dunwoody scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of play to jump out to an early 3-0 lead on South Cobb. Senior captain Ella Ryan lofted a corner kick to Addisyn Slipsager who headed the ball into the net with 36:11 on the first half clock for the 1-0 advantage.
Less than three minutes later Dunwoody put the pressure on in front of the goal and Lindsey Lampron snapped a ricochet from a teammate’s shot for the second goal of the game. Izzy Henderson followed with another goal off a ricochet less than a minute later to make it 3-0.
Dunwoody had 16 shots on goal in the first half pressuring the Lady Eagles’ defense and keeper Erika Carmona who managed eight saves in the opening half.
Lampron picked up her second goal of the half on a pass from Henderson to make it 4-0 with 29:08 left in the opening half. The lead expanded to 5-0 two minutes later as Ryan lofted a corner kick in front of the net for a header by Shelby Verlander.
Anna Kate McGee found Henderson on a pass from the right side that Henderson put in the net to make it 6-0 with 17:55 to play in half.
Hannah Thompson and Ryan would each add a goal in the final three minutes before halftime to make it 8-0 in favor of Dunwoody.
McGee benefitted from another Ryan corner kick to knock in the final goal of the game with 7:09 to play for the final of 9-0.
