Chamblee hosted Northside of Columbus in a Class 5A state playoffs first round doubleheader this afternoon and swept both matches by 3-0 margins to advance to the Sweet 16 round next week.

The Lady Bulldogs (9-2) rolled to straight set victories at No. 1 singles, No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles in their 3-0 victory at the Chamblee High tennis courts.

Chamblee’s Isabelle Coursey needed just 32 minutes in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Northside’s Anh Nguygen for the first point of the match.

Sophia Cheng matched Coursey’s 6-0, 6-0 win by defeating Northside’s Brookly Hinton at No. 2 singles to make it 2-0.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Ananya Jatar and Grace Seel made it a clean 6-0, 6-0 victory over Morgan Jones and Sally Myers of Northside to close out the match.

The second point for Chamblee came via a 6-0, 6-1 victory by the No. 1 doubles pair of Nicholas Nitsche and Gunnar Hagen over Northside’s Jude Tongson and Dalton Scott.

Kai Henderson broke the serve of Northside’s Jinhyo Sim in the 6-1 second set win to clinch the victory for the Bulldogs. Henderson won the match 6-0, 6-1.

The Bulldogs must go on the road next week to face Statesboro in the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs.
