Area 8 champion Redan leads six DeKalb teams into the girls’ flag football state playoffs today (Tuesday) hosting the first two rounds of the Class A-4A playoffs beginning at 5:30 pm at Hallford Stadium in Clarkston.

Redan (9-2) knocked off previously undefeated Tri-Cities in the Area 8 Tournament championship game to earn the No. 1 seed and a host role to open the playoffs.

The Lady Raiders take on Maynard Jackson (7-3) in the first game at 5:30. Athens Academy (6-2) takes on Harris County (9-1) at approximately 6:30. The two winners face off in the second round at approximately 7:30 pm for the opportunity to move into the quarterfinals on Thursday (December 1). The winner faces the St. Vincent’s Regional winner.

In other Class A-4A playoff action, Towers (9-4) travels to Pace Academy (13-1) for a 5:30 pm first round match. A Towers win would pit the Titans against the winner of Callaway (4-5) and North Oconee (8-1) at 7:30. The winner faces the Calvary Day Regional winner.

CLASS 5A-6A
Three DeKalb teams reached the Class 5A-6A state playoffs beginning today.

Tucker (7-5) finished second in Area 5 and travels to the Evans Regional to face off with Villa Rica (8-2) at 5:30 pm. Evans (8-1) hosts Newton (4-3) at 4:30 pm. Winners advance to the 6:30 pm second round. The regional winner moves on to Thursday to take on the East Coweta Regional winner.

Clarkston (7-5) finished third in Area 5 and takes on Central (Carrollton) at 6:30 pm in the Heritage (Conyers) Regional. Heritage (12-0) takes on Grovetown (8-5) at 5:30 pm. The winners clash at 7:30 pm with the chance to move into the quarterfinals against the winner of the Westside (Macon) Regional winner.

Lithonia (6-5) earned the No. 4 seed out of Area five and travels to Lithia Springs (13-0) for a first-round game against the host team at 4:00 pm. Greenbrier (11-4) faces Woodland (Henry Co.) (8-1) in the 5:00 pm contest. The winners play at 6:00 pm for the right to move on to the quarterfinals against the Mt. Zion (Jonesboro) Regional winner.

CLASS 7A
Dunwoody (6-9-1) finished as the No. 4 seed out of Area 3 to reach the Class 7A state playoffs. The Lady Wildcats face host Archer (9-1) at 5:30 pm today.

Wheeler (8-3) and Marietta (11-2) follow at 6:30 with the winners facing off at 7:30 pm. The regional winner moves on to the Thursday quarterfinals against the Lamber Regional winner.
