Fabian Walker passed for 251 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Chamblee Bulldogs to a season opening 59-0 victory over the Towers Titans on Friday night at North DeKalb Stadium.

Chamblee (1-0) drove down to the Towers 12-yard line on the opening drive of the game while taking off 4:26 off the clock before stalling. Walker hit Levi Bradham for a pair of 22-yard gains in the drive but had to settle for a 29-yard field goal by Daniel Chavez with 7:36 remaining in the first quarter to up 3-0.

Three minutes later Larry Harris would score on a four-yard run off right tackle. Chavez hit the PAT to make it 10-0 with 4:36 to play. The short drive was set up by Miller Meeks’ block of a punt to give Chamblee the football on the Towers 13.

Walker would use his arm for the next five touchdowns with throws of two yards (Jordan Thornton), four yards (Noah Habtermariam), seven yards (Tristian Sizemore), five yards (Levi Bradam) and 85 yards (Thornton) as the lead ballooned to 45-0 with 6:40 to play in the third quarter.

The Bulldog defense was doing its part to stymy the Towers (0-2) offense racking up 16 plays for a loss in the shutout win.

Chamblee picked up two more scores in the game on a blocked punt recovered in the end zone by Dempsey Ellers and a three-yard touchdown run by Marco Pless. Daniel Chavez finished with five PATs and Alex Dahkli hit three PATs for the Bulldogs.

Tucker 31, SW DeKalb 29
Tucker stopped a Southwest DeKalb two-point conversion attempt in the final six seconds of the game to take a thrilling 31-29 come-from-behind win at Godfrey Stadium on Friday night in the matchup of the two winningest football programs in the DCSD.

The Panthers (0-2) jumped out to a 14-0 lead and then held a 23-10 advantage with one quarter to play. Tucker (2-0) got some momentum with a blocked punt and scored 21 fourth quarter points to go up 31-23 with 2:22 to play.

Southwest DeKalb drove down the field and scored with 6.5 seconds to play to pull within 31-29. The two-point conversion play was no good as the Tigers held on for the big win.

Tucker now holds a 15-7-1 mark in the rivalry. The Panthers had won 34-9 a year ago to break a five consecutive loss streak to the Tigers. Tucker is 559-243-14 overall and the Panthers are 527-274-14.

The Tigers improve to 2-0 to start a season for the first time since 2017.

Lakeside 30, Northview 6
The Lakeside Vikings defeated Northview 30-6 on Friday night at Adams Stadium to improve to 2-0 on the season for the first time since 2005.

Lakeside took a 23-0 lead into the half to aid the trip to 2-0. The Vikings went 2-0 to start the season in 2005 with back-to-back wins over Avondale and Stone Mountain.

Northview fell to 1-1 on the season.

Columbia 26, Woodland-Stockbridge 21
The No. 10 ranked Columbia Eagles followed up their 13-10 upset of Class 7A Camden County last week with a 26-21 win over Woodland-Stockbridge on Friday night at Avondale Stadium.

The game was not as close as it would seem as the Eagles (2-0) were up 26-0 with over nine minutes to play and began subbing. Woodland took advantage to score some late touchdowns to pull within the five-point final.

Arabia Mountain 34, Heritage-Conyers 6
The Arabia Mountain Rams bounced back from a tough 12-6 loss last week to Maynard Jackson to rout Heritage-Conyers 34-6 on the road to even their mark on the season to 1-1.
