Kevin Kilpatrick joins a long list of DeKalb County alums taken in the Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft as he was picked up by the Atlanta Braves in the 17th round of the 2022 draft.
The 2019 Redan alum was selected after a stellar year with the College of Central Florida as an outfielder. He hit .383 with 11 homeruns, 55 RBI and 78 runs scored in 61 games as the Patriots advanced to the Junior College Baseball World Series this past spring.
He recently committed to the University of Houston to play Division 1 college baseball next season and will have to decide between the Minor Leagues and college baseball.
Kilpatrick finished with the sixth best batting average in DeKalb in 2019 with a .449 batting average while leading the county in homeruns (8) and RBI (48). He also totaled 12 doubles, 4 triples and scored 34 runs. The Raiders finished 22-13 on the season.
He is the 22nd Raider taken in the MLB Draft since 1994 when Andy Taulbee was chosen by the San Francisco Giants. Redan has had 15 players drafted since 2007.
