The Redan Raiders kept their Class 3A state baseball playoffs alive with a 2-1 one win over Southeast Bulloch in the nightcap of the Sweet 16 doubleheader at Southeast Bulloch on Wednesday night.
Southwest Bulloch rolled to a 12-2 win in the first game to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three playoff series.
The two teams were in a pitching duel in the second game as it entered the bottom of the sixth with the two teams knotted at 1-1.
Redan playing as the home team in the second game came to bat in the bottom of the sixth. With a runner on base Adriel Martinez came to bat for the Raiders.
Martinez delivered with a RBI single to give the Raiders a 2-1 lead heading into the top of the seventh. Southeast Bulloch failed to score and the series was tied at one game apiece forcing today’s third and deciding game at Southeast Bulloch.
The winner advance to the Elite eight and will host the Stephens County/Burk County winner. Burk County and Stephens County are also playing a third and deciding game today after splitting their doubleheader on Wednesday.
The Elite 8 round is set for May 10-11.
CLASS 4 STATE PLAYOFFS
The Druid Hills Red Devils season ended with a doubleheader road loss to Perry on Wednesday.
Perry (26-9) opened the doubleheader taking the first game 12-2 and jumped in front 9-0 in the second game heading into the sixth inning. Druid Hills (17-8) tried to rally to tie the series before falling 9-5 to close out the series.
