Lakeside’s winning streak hit 10 games last week with a dominating series sweep of Langston Hughes. Coach Brian Granger’s Vikings rolled to impressive victories of 6-2 (March 10), 17-4 (March 11) and 14-0 (March 11) to improve to 11-3 overall and 6-0 in Region 4-AAAAAA. Druid Hills opened Region 6-AAAA action with a 5-2 road triumph over Arabia Mountain (March 11).

Lakeside used a stellar pitching effort from junior Will Berry in a 6-2 victory over Langston Hughes March 10. Berry went the full seven innings, striking out 10 and allowing only five walks and two hits. Senior Lucas Uyeda (2-3; 1 RS), junior John Roath (2-3; 3 RBI; 1 RS; 1 HR) and junior Jack Albright (2-3; 2 RS; 1 SB) collected two hits each on the offensive side of the ball.

Senior Malachi Cloud (3-4; 2 RS; 4 SB; 1 RBI) and senior Will Tansill (2-3; 1 RBI; 1 SB) paced the Viking offense in a 17-4 romp over Langston Hughes March 11. Sophomore Jacob Arnberger (3 2/3 IP; 0 ER; 9 SO; 2 HA; 4 BB) started and secured the pitching decision for Lakeside.

Tansill then turned in a sparkling effort on the pitching mound in Lakeside’s 14-0 blanking of Langston Hughes in the second game played on March 11. Tansill (5 IP; WP; 11 SO; 1 BB) teamed with Roath (1 IP; 2 SO) to toss a no-hitter and register 13 strikeouts. Senior Reeve Walden (2-3; 2 RBI; 1 RS; 1 RBI) led the way offensively in the lopsided Viking triumph.

Coach Eric Love’s Red Devils also knocked off Maynard Jackson by a 15-9 margin in moving to 5-4 overall. Columbia rounded out the list of perfect results from last week with a 1-0 showing. Coach Greg Barnett’s Eagles sailed to an easy 12-4 victory over Cedar Grove March 7.

Druid Hills pounded out 10 hits in a 15-9 road decision over Maynard Jackson March 11. Junior Cullen Riel (2-5; 2 RBI; 1 RS; 1 2B), senior Max Fishbein (2-4; 2 RS; 1 RBI; 1 SB) and junior Ian O’Connor (2-3; 1 RS; 1 RBI) shined brightest individually on the offensive end for the Red Devils. Senior Nick Akins (2 IP; 4 RA; 3 HA; 3 SO; 3 BB) earned the pitching triumph in relief.

Senior Tyler Sun struck out three and allowed three earned runs, six hits and one walk over three innings while dropping the mound decision for Chamblee in a 10-0 road defeat at the hands of Decatur March 11.

Senior Brandon Cooper collected the lone hit for Clarkston in a 15-0 loss to Northview March 11. Cooper also turned in a strong effort on the mound in defeat, striking out four and allowing only one earned run, four hits and two walks over the first four innings.

Sophomore Miguel Mota turned in solid efforts at the plate and on the pitching end for Cross Keys in a 16-2 road loss to Stone Mountain March 10. Mota went 2-2 with one run scored and two stolen bases on the offensive side. The right-hander also struck out six and allowed two earned runs, one walk and no hits over two innings as a pitcher.

Junior Marlon Ellis (1-3; 1 RS; 1 SB), senior Thylen Whitaker (1-3; 1 RBI; 1 SB) and junior Landon Williams (1-3; 1 RBI; 1 SB) accounted for the offense in Miller Grove’s 13-3 home loss to Mays March 11.

Senior Davion Graham posted a solid offensive outing in Southwest DeKalb’s 9-3 road defeat to St. Pius March 7. Graham finished 2-3 with one RBI and one stolen base.
