Peachtree ends first half of DeKalb girls’ middle school basketball season with Region 1 win over Tucker as teams head into the holiday break.
Peachtree (7-1, 4-1) ends the early part of the basketball season with one of the best four records following a 41-19 girls’ victory over the Tucker Tigers (3-4, 2-3). The duo of Kazimiera McLoughlin (14 points) and Sophie Biggs, (12 points) keyed the Patriots win. Kassidy Manning scored 14 points to lead Tucker.

Cedar Grove 26, Stone Mountain 8
The Cedar Grove Saints notched their first win of the season with a 26-8 non-region win over Stone Mountain on the last weekend of play before the holidays. Asia Neal led the way with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals for the Saints (1-6). Ajale led Stone Mountain (0-9) with 4 points.
Stephenson 38, Druid Hills 18
The Stephenson Jaguars held on to second place in Region 2 with a 38-18 win over the Druid Hills Dragons (2-5, 1-2). Kamryn Larkin fueled the win hitting for 17 points (5-6 free throws). Sole Jefferson and Sarah Okorowanta hit for 8 points each for the Jaguars (5-2, 3-2).
Other scores include Redan (4-4, 3-3) 30, Freedom (3-5, 1-4) 21; Bethune (4-4, 4-1) 24, McNair (1-7, 1-4) 14; and Chamblee (6-2, 5-0) 34, Henderson (3-6, 2-4) 4.
BOYS RECAPS
Redan and Tucker boys’ squads remained undefeated overall and in their respective regions with victories on Saturday heading into the holiday break.
The Redan Raiders (8-0, 6-0) put three players in double figures on the way to a 64-38 win over the Freedom Rams (3-5, 2-3). Amare Medhin, Tristen Mitchell and Jordan Francis all scored 14 points in the win. King Hernandez had a game-high 15 points and Keshawn George added 14 to lead Freedom.
Tucker 54, Peachtree 47
The Tucker Tigers (8-0, 5-0) knocked off the Peachtree Patriots (2-6, 1-4) 54-47 to remain undefeated in Region 1. The trio of Jakobe Williams, Omari Fernandez and Donovan Smith were the catalysts for the Tigers. Emerson Mitchell burned the nets for 18 points and Jack Lamb added 15 more for the Patriots.
Cedar Grove 60, Stone Mountain 22
Seven Cedar Grove Saints (6-1) got on the scoreboard in a 60-22 non-region win over the Stone Mountain Pirates (1-8). The Saints surge was highlighted by a 30-point, 11-rebound double-double performance by Emmanuel Green and Reginald Harris’ solid performance of 11 points, 4 assists and 4 steals. Stone Mountain was led by Carmello Graves (8 points 4 blocks, 3 rebounds) and Tyree Porter (7 points, 4 steals).
Druid Hills 48, Stephenson 38
The Druid Hills Dragons (6-2, 4-0) stayed on top of the Region 2 standings via a 48-38 win over the Stephenson Jaguars (1-6, 1-4). Ryder Sibly was the leader in the Dragons’ win with 12 points.
Chamblee 42, Henderson 32
The Chamblee Bulldogs (6-2, 3-2) evened the season series with the Henderson Cougars (7-2, 3-2) with a 42-32 victory to move into a second-place tie with the Cougars in Region 1. Jaydon Avery, Khamillo Wells and Eston McDow lead the Bulldogs in the win.
Bethune 41, McNair 19
The Bethune Lions (4-4, 3-2) solidified their third place standing in Region 4 with a 41-19 win over the McNair Mustangs (1-7, 0-5). Rashaad Silver notched 13 points to top the scoring for Bethune while Jaylon Phillips and Mekyrius Miller both hit for 8 points. McNair got six points from Wiley and Miller in the game.
Lithonia 51, Salem 46
The Lithonia Bulldogs (1-7, 1-3) notched their first win of the season with a 51-46 Region 3 win over the Salem Lions (1-6, 1-4). Emontae Gourdine was the high-point scorer for Salem.
