Southwest DeKalb special teams set the tone early with a blocked punt for a touchdown as the Panthers rolled to a 48-0 Region 5-5A high school football victory over the Stone Mountain Pirates at Adams Stadium on Friday night.

Wesley Brown broke through on a Stone Mountain (4-4, 0-4) punt attempt to block the kick and recovered it in the end zone for a Southwest DeKalb touchdown with 10:47 still remaining in the first quarter. Malcolm Smith hit the PAT to give the Panthers (4-4, 3-1) the lightning quick 7-0 lead.

A Dahkari Jones interception return for 40 yards to the Pirates three-yard line set up Carswell for his third touchdown run of the night as he took it into the end zone on the very next play. Southwest’s lead was upped to 34-0 as Randy Smith hit the PAT with 9:24 left in the third quarter.

Johnson picked up his second touchdown of the night as he got the first of his two defensive scores on a scoop and score covering 29 yards with 6:39 remaining in the third quarter. Randy Smith kicked the PAT to make it 41-0 in favor of the Panthers.
